This apartment is comfortable, clean and in one of the quietest spots you could choose on Marettimo. I have alerted the owner, who does not live on Marettimo, to some problems with the electrical system so please look for her comments to see if these issues have been fixed. One big problem: It wasn't possible to run the air conditioner, the cooking stove and also 2 lights without the electricity going out. I could manage my electric use only because I was traveling solo an even then it was inconvenient. For a family, the power would have gone out every day. The apartment manager, who lives on Marettimo, was friendly but did not know about this problem or how to fix it. I had to ask a kind neighbor to show me how to turn the electricity on again outside the building. For 200+ USD per night, I expected better infrastructure. The kitchen had minimal provisions but I came to understand this is typical for the island. For example, I had to buy paper towels, hand soap and other basics, which was not a problem for a two-week stay but would be frustrating for a short stay. There was not even one sharp knife for cooking (but the apartment manager brought me one immediately). The terrace is one floor up on an outside stairway, not connected with the apartment. The view is beautiful and the terrace is lovely. Overall I give this place a very high recommendation in contrast with my friends' experience at other places. They stayed in apartments that had similar provisions for a similar price, and those other places were much noisier or not as beautiful. I did not receive the value I hoped but I still think this apartment is an excellent choice among what the island has to offer.
