Good for day trips or for overnight. This is a traditional Japanese hot spring inn with mixed bathing and inexpensive rooms in a cook-for-yourself style. I visited first in 1989 and last a year ago. The whole experience is what makes this so fun. The kitchens on each floor are fun because everyone cooks at the same time and you can learn from your neighbors. After cooking you can all go together to the bath. There are special hours for just women, but it is most enjoyable when whole families bathe together. The bus to the train station stops just in front of the inn.
