My friend and I spent a couple hours at the Hirado Castle. The grounds were just beautiful on our walk to the castle--beautiful pink lanterns hanging in the trees, families having picnics and several historical statues. The parking was easy to find, just a small fee to tour the castle and a few stairs to take, which was no problem even for my friend who uses a cane. Each floor was like a museum and the panoramic views at the top were spectacular!

Enjoyed this walking tour of the Hirado Castle. Beautiful architecture & views. ¥1020 for our family to visit. Worth the drive.

What a magnificent view! The castle overlooks the bay and is at the top of a rather sheer rock mountain(hill). The geography of Japan is breath-taking. Never have I seen first hand such a unique, warm, and wonderful place. Just about every valley between sheer rock cliffs is a terraced rice field. Whether you are in a town, city, or out in the country, everything looks clean and manicured. Trying to imagine life there thousand of years ago was not much unlike what one would see today, minus the new buildings and roads. The people of japan are so helpful, courteous, and respectful. We couldn't have felt more welcomed, and the food was great! We're planning a second trip in a couple of years.

As many castle in Japan, Hirado castle is not an old building. But the whole complex, the exhibition inside the castle and also the view is it worth to spend the entrance fee.
