we booked a wheelchair accessible room, they booked us in the Seasons at Blue. Here are the issues
1- The interior doors are very narrow, and the room had very little room for me to maneuver
2- There is a tub, not a barrier free shower
3- The bed is too high, and very little room to get beside bed to transfer
4- There is a 4” step to get out on deck

With the reasons above we asked to be moved to a “more” accessible room, they moved us to The Mosaic. Here are the issues
1- Bed was ridiculously high, even for able bodied people.
2- no where near enough room in bedroom to maneuver or transfer beside bed.
3- i could not reach the thermostat
4- Doors to narrow
5- Grab bar at toilet was to far in front of toilet. Should be closer, and an “L” shaped bar
6- i was unable to go on deck as there is a 2-3 inch step up, and then a drop down to deck.
7 the automatic door to enter the Mosaic closed far too fast.

Pros
1-the living room, kitchen, and bathroom had a good amount of space to maneuver
2- bathroom had a barrier free shower
3-The room itself is on main floor

Dear bazwar6,

Thank you for providing this insightful feedback following your recent visit to Blue Mountain Resort, we regret to hear that you found the rooms available were not adequately outfitted to accommodate your specific needs. As indicated on our website we are committed to providing its goods and services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities. Blue Mountain Resort is proud to be a regional finalist for the Ontario Tourism Association Accessibility Award. This award recognizes an organization within the tourism and hospitality industry that demonstrates exceptional consideration for accommodating the needs of all consumers and employees, in addition to operating an outstanding accessible business that complies with Ontario Accessibility standards and is recognized by employees and customers as a leader in providing an inclusive experience for all tourists.

With regards to our accommodations, the following is stated on our website, The Blue Mountain Inn has available rooms that feature larger bathrooms, bathtub support bars and adjustable shower heads. Village Suites (including The Grand Georgian, Seasons at Blue, Weider Lodge and Mosaic) all contain units that have been partially adapted for accessibility. These units are equipped with grab bars for the toilet and in the bath tub, and a bathroom that is large enough to accommodate the required turning radius for a wheelchair. The bathroom sink is also open below to allow wheelchair access to it. It should be noted, however, being partially adapted the unit itself is not very spacious and guests may find that it may be small for operating a wheelchair. For additional information, please contact Information and Reservations.

The Westin Trillium House has 3 accessible suites including support bars in the bathrooms (toilet and shower) and offer a more spacious layout for wheelchair maneuverability. These suites also offer strobe lights in the living room area for phone ring detection.

We wish to thank you for your observations and assure you we will take your suggestions into consideration during future planning for upgrades and renovations.

Yours in Hospitality,
On behalf of Blue Mountain Resorts LP

We have been going to the Blue for several years. The resort continuously upgrades its buildings and suites. We were happy to see the new look for MOSAIC's lobby and the new furniture and carpeting in the suites. The whole new look is refreshing.

Room Tip: Get a suite overlooking the pool

Excellent staff, front desk staff very very friendly and helpful at all times. Even though the hotel was full, there was never a line of more than 2 people waiting at front desk.

We stayed in the One Bedroom Suite and it was spacious. The fireplace is is quite nice on ski vacation of course, as is the huge 4-piece bath. Some of the fixtures were in need of replacement, the shower temperature handle was broken.

The dishwasher made a sound that was awful during operation.

Pull out couch was a wire mesh with a thin sheet of "mattress" on top. Entirely unsuitable for anyone over 35 lbs.

Location is good, it is in the village, however of the main village hotels it is the farthest from the lifts. Note that currently (2016-03) on google maps, the location is about 400m off from the actual location.

Hot tub is quite nice, it was set at 102 F though, I like to see 104 F in the winter at a ski resort. Also, the bubbler jets were "broken...waiting for a part", for the entire 3 days we were there. In my opinion, that hot tub is the hotel's primary amenity. The conversation over three days in that hot tub was almost exclusively surrounding the travesty that is a broken hot tub. Consensus was that there should be a 28% refund on the $260-$500 / night room fees, for each day the hot tub is broken.

Security staff were surprisingly adept at handling inebriated 30-somethings quickly and efficiently. Impressive.

I really wanted to give 4 stars to this property, I really did because the place is quite nice if only maintenance would be kept up better:

In addition to the above broken items:

Tighten the hardware on the millwork in the kitchens
Check that the thermostat/fireplace-switch-casing is attached correctly without broken plastic tabs.
Make sure vanity panels are attached fully and not falling out on one or both sides.

These items can be forgiven in a property where fees are < $200/night.

This brings me to 2 items that just CANNOT be IGNORED!!!:

1. Free wifi in the rooms is a must - be a big girl and pony up for free wifi in the rooms. ABSURD in a property like this.

2. The TV!!! Both TV's pre-date the hotel, if not, then the A/V consultant of the hotel should be back-charged and disgraced. A modern hotel allows one to connect an HDMI cable to the TV so that one can watch their own media. Holding guests hostage with no wifi and no access to 2 flat panel (barely - those TV's are 2003 technology.) TV's is unacceptable.

One has to wonder how the current state of blue mountain village accommodations came to be: the model was tremblant and whistler - plain to see - and neither of those suffer these fundamental issues. This property is a money maker that is plain to see.

Here's a 2/5 rating. Staff amazing, especially cleaning staff and front desk staff. The rest was weak. I think they know this, and there is a rumor that they are renovating the property next month.

Room Tip: I hope that the renovations in April make this comment box irrelevant.

Dear LocalsDiscount,

Wow, thank you for all this very valuable feedback, lots of great detail and insight for past and future guests of the Mosaic suites at Blue Mountain Resort. For the record, it’s not a rumor at all, the refurbishment is underway as of this moment and we wait eagerly to see the final results. Each of our properties, with the exception of the Blue Mountain Inn has a private owner for each lodging unit and operates similarly to any condominium property with board members and property managers. Each of our hotels is on a rotating schedule for refurbishing, an undertaking that takes careful planning and execution. You will be very pleased to hear that the televisions will be modern technology, mind you that changes at the speed of light and as such we hope you won’t be disappointed by the time you make a trip back. Thank you kindly for the shout out to our wonderful team of associates, they always go that extra mile and take great pleasure in delivering outstanding and memorable services to each and every guest. With regards to wifi, the service available on a complimentary basis in common areas and the Inn restaurants is suitable for viewing e-mail and browsing the internet. The service available in guest rooms for a fee, not unlike many other major hotel chains, is premium service and will support, viewing e-mail, browsing the internet and downloading media. Our maintenance associates have advised us that they will be scrutinizing the hot tubs during the shutdown of this property for the refurbishment to isolate the issue that impacted functionality of these facilities, and have assured us they will have them working at full capacity when the building is returned to service late May.

We had a studio for 3 of us. Plenty of room for all of us. Room was clean and perfect for what we wanted. Happy to find bathrobes provided to go down to the pool and hot tub. Outdoor pool and hot tub open in winter was a great bonus!! Staff at check-in were friendly and helpful and we asked for a late checkout and it was no problem. Great location right in the village so can walk to everything.

Room Tip: If hotel is busy, rooms facing pool will be noisy.

Dear Kristin W,

Great review, we love to hear how well you enjoyed the hotel, rec facilities and the services rendered by our associates. The proximity to the Village is ideal, short walk and you’re in the heart of the Village square, with dining and retail all around. This is the only hotel that offers bath robes, it’s a nice touch isn’t it?
