OMV Resort is a super special place. We were surprised by the quality and spaciousness of the villas within the jungle! Toucans overhead, sloths on the back porch railing, the call of howler monkeys, wow! The Resort itself is a bit rustic and eco friendly - with gorgeous organic gardens, a zip line, and delicious family style meals served daily for the whole community and guests.
The villas are super spacious and have every amenity including a full kitchen. A special surprise was the fridge stocked with breatfast items and a bowl of fresh organic fruit and veggies from their gardens.
The quiet is amazing, the sunsets are glorious, the hikes in the jungle especially down to their awesome waterfall are unsurpassed. Highly recommend OMV Resort to young families, singles and any age couples. You can spend a good 3 days here without leaving the property and without being bored. If you here for a rest, count on spending a week.
Pristeen beaches, Corcovado National Park, Manuel Antonio National Park, Palmar Norte with its Ancient Sphere Park, and the fascinating Barruca Indian Reservation, and Ojochal, the Gourmet Capital of Costa Rica (houed in a tiny European town) are all all with a 45 minute drive. And the resort also has their own boat, the Lobo del Mar, for a day of whale watching, deep sea fishing, snorkling and diving and a night trip through the mangrove forest. So much to do and see and all fascinating.
The swim up salt water pool bar is great. There's a TV, pool table and table tennis and some evenings great local entertainment and kareoke.
Being so close to the equator, the days are shorter than normal and the sun both rises and sets around 5PM. Therefore, your day will start earlier than usual and you'll probably go the bed earlier after a long day in the jungle. Bring your 4-wheel drive though, as the road up is 7 kilometers and an adventure in itself.
I just can't say enough good things about this place. It's like visiting a very special family and having your own lovely home! I'll be back regularly.
