I have been in Piermarini few times with my family, and guests from abroad.
The restaurant is set in a great scenery, hidden in the peaceful Valle Teverina, it has a lovely garden and swimming pool. The best moment to visit restaurant is spring/summer when you can dining alfresco and enjoy the meal whilst still soaking up the surrounding atmosphere of the valley. The food is absolutely michelin star standard, ordering has never been an issue as everything I tasted at Piermarini has always been so delicious. The specialties of the restaurant are all truffles based, which is found in the local area, famous for truffles.
Highly recommended for experiencing local products with a refined touch.

What a wonderful restaurant this was. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were dining in a beautiful place. It is difficult to say what we enjoyed most. From his signature dish, the soft boiled egg with truffles to the roast pork to the piccitini's with truffles and the gnocchi to the zuppa inglese, it was all incredibly wonderful. Our waiter, Andy made us feel like we were the only ones there giving us service beyond professional, friendly and simply amazing. We travel a lot and consider ourselves gourmets and we rate this restaurant as one of the best we've ever been. As a side note, we also attended a cooking school in Lucca (Toscana Saporita) for a week after this. Just to tell you how serious we are about Italian cooking. That too, was very enjoyable and one I will write a review on as well.

Ristorante Piermarini is an oasis of beauty and tranquility in the valley of the Nera River, not far from Terni, Umbria. Upon entering the property the restaurant presents a picture of classical beauty and one is not disappointed upon entering the main dining room. The atmosphere is formal in off-white satin and clean brightness.
The Piermarini family -- all members at work -- is warm, friendly and very personable, obviously dedicated to not only exquisite food but incredible hospitality.
The choices on the menu that we enjoyed were an antipasto of lightly battered and sauteed vegetables. They were excellent as were the "arancine," the Sicilian rice balls, deep fried, with various fillings. The homemade tagliolini were cooked "al dente" to perfection, and served in a great asparagus sugo. The next course was grilled lamb, locally grown, tender and flavorful. All their vegetables and meats are local and fresh. The wine that we enjoyed was an ideal light, dry white from Alto Adige. It complimented the menu perfectly. In all, dinner at Piermarini is a gourmet's delight and worthy of rave reviews in every way. Prices are reasonable for what is served and enjoyed.

If you want to taste real truffle you do have to eat in this place. I know truffle and I'm able to understand when it's good or not. We had lunch in this restaurant as we were out for a trip in Umbria and we're looking for a good restaurant for truffle so we choose Piermarini as I knew I wouldn't get a delusion. We had starter with taste of local product. We loved the fresh ricotta with truffle, the ham and fried vegetables. Ingredients were all fresh and taken from the countryside around the restaurant. Coccorè, a boiled egg served with truffle and toasted bread is unbelievable: so simple so good. Eggs are quite different from the ones we're used to eat, nothing to do with the eggs you can find at the supermarket. These eggs becomes from the countryside. Spaghetti with truffle were also delicious and the taste of 3 kind of desserts made me crazy. I loved the special tiramisù, with a particular recipe of the chef.
Service was excellent.
The restaurant organizes also cooking course and walking out with dogs looking for truffles.
The bill was very very honest, so it worth the driving from Rome.

We had a lovely lunch enjoying the view of the pool and the hills surrounding.
The food was amazing and we could taste the freshness of all the ingredients. The staff was lovely and helpful, we had the specialties of the day. The restaurant also offers a wide selection of wines. I had a memorable day with my family and we would love to go again!
