“A Sportlover's dream”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2012

I stayed here for a couple of nights last Aug'11. In one word it is a dream for any sportlover. Right inside the Old Trafford cricket ground with a balcony view just beside the pavillion and over the long on for a right handed batsman, and in a 5 minutes walking distance from Manchester United's Home ground at the Theatre of Dreams, there cannot be any better location for someone who is a sports fanatic. A great breakfast also helps. But the view standing on the balcony is worth a million pound !!! Definitely I would stay here whenever I am in Manchester.

I went to stay at The Old Trafford Lodge because I was attending the X Factor auditions at Manchester United's football ground. If you're a fan of the team and need somewhere to stay after a match, there's no better place than The Old Trafford Lodge. It is a 7-10 minute walk from the ground down a straight road and you're there! The hotel is very modern and beautifully designed. (It's also perfect if you're going to a cricket match as the hotel offers rooms with balconies over looking the cricket field).
Upon arrival we were greeting with friendly and helpful reception staff who knew their job well. They were all polite and eager to please. (They let us borrow forks for our take away and even phoned our room when the takeaway arrived at reception!). We then went up to our room which has access via stairs or lift. The room was a twin and was exceptionally clean and tidy. The bathroom was small but more than enough for anyones requirements.
We had continental breakfast on both mornings we stayed and the hotel provide a very wide choice of options ranging from toast and cereal to croissant, pain au chocolat and fruit. The coffee is excellent too!
Overall I could pick no faults with the hotel. It was a pleasant stay and I would recommend anyone to stay here.

Room Tip: If you're travelling to attend a cricket match, upgrade to an Executive room as these are the on...

Only an overnight stay but thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to visit again very soon. Friendly staff; very comfortable beds; spotlessly clean; great restaurant where I enjoyed one of the best steaks ever!! Paid a few pounds extra for a room with a balcony overlooking the cricket ground and if it had been a nice summer's evening we could have enjoyed it more, but it was still nice to overlook it.

Room Tip: We paid a few pounds extra for a room with balcony overlooking the cricket ground - well worth it.

We had a rather pleasant stay there. It's quite close to the Man U ground so it was really convenient for us to go watch the game. On the flip side, it means that it's not close to the town centre and night life, but the metro runs till pretty late.

The hotel is basic but the room was nice and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful in giving us directions and advices for sightseeing. Very good value for money in my opinion.
