A great budget option. Very friendly staff, a stunning view across the sea to the mountains, especially from the pool. Great place to have a freshly baked pastry & cappuccino for breakfast.
The kitchen is basically equipped but has everything you need. Beware of the mosquitoes though

My better half and I stayed at RVP for 2 nights, 26-27 August 2014 for EUR135 (2 nights not incl breakfast on Booking.com) in Room 14 (no view). It is great little budget place.

But the BEST part of staying at this great little motel was having dinner by the pool! While there is no formal restaurant, the motel sets up tables under the canopy by the pool and it was the most beautiful romantic setting that we had dinner there both nights for a total of around EUR35 each night incl wine for me. Considering the unorthodox arrangement, the Chef was absolutely brilliant! My better half is Sicilian and we were on a road trip to the "other" side of Sicily and even he had to confess it was absolutely delicious and completely authentic food. We had busiata pasta with swordfish, mint and eggplant and busiata marinata one night and busiata with sardines, saffron, parsley and currants on the other night. The entrees were also awesome - grilled calamari and sardine "meatballs" in tomato sauce with peas. It was GREAT. We've been to so many expensive restaurants in Taormina and this poolside place was the best. Who would have thought.

Apart from the dinner - the rooms were also great. Room 14 was painted all white with red trimmings they were nicely renovated with lovely bathrooms (no view). Plenty of hot water, great quality bed linen and towels. The rooms were very large for the money. The air con worked really well.

Breakfast (or rather croissants and coffee) are available at the Poolside Café from 8.30am as it is not included in the room rate. There is also an excellent Café/Pastry Shop down in the main street of Balestrate, Caffe del Golfo - wow!! the cakes are amazing including 12 inch long and 2 inches wide cannoli for EUR7.50. Better half was so tempted ...

The downside was the double bed was actually 2 singles pushed together and they were saggy as well. We didn't sleep that well. Lucky we were too tired from hiking Lo Zingaro for anything else ;-)

The other consideration is that RVP is up in the hills above Balestrate (too far to walk to the beach or to the main set of shops). You need a car to make the narrow winding road up the motel. The narrow access road is lined with garbage and overgrown weeds which is not so nice. If you can overlook the road, the property itself is actually a lovely family motel - the kids would really love the pool and play area and there is plenty of space so that no one feels hemmed-in. I enjoyed that the pool has no specific opening and closing time so you can relax with a glass of wine by the pool overlooking the fantastic views out to sea and over to Lo Zingaro National Park without a time limit.

I definitely RECOMMEND for money vs value. (Our room was near the main gate in the original section but there was also a newer section with huge family rooms with their own terrazzas closer to the Reception area and they looked great. Also, Reception is open 8am to 8pm then they handover to a Security Guard for the evening - just FYI - you need to arrive before 8pm).

Room Tip: The newer family rooms with own terrazza were great - but cost more I am sure. We paid 67.50/double for the standard room on Booking.com.

Perched atop a high hill overlooking the entire bay behind Balestrate, lovely rooms with porches and great pool, pizza, very laid back yet very efficient.
lovely proprietor and assistants, parking. We will definitely return. Price is great! Missed breakfast because the beds were too comfortable!

We stayed there for 1 week.
Just what we had been looking for: Quiet rural location near to Balestrate, with full view to the ocean from the pool area. Rooms clean, public area well kept. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Car is necessary.
Only one small negative comment (which does not deduct from the overall positive impression): KItchen utensils are very few, e.g. there are no wine glasses, no trencher, no proper kitchen knife. Cutlery is of low quality.

We stayed here for six nights at the beginning of our Sicily-vacation. Everywhere else we stayed we always said that those hotels couldn´t compare to Villagio Petruso.
To us this is one of the places that really is "a home away from home". The room was really excellent with its wonderful terrace and a nice kitchen.
The pool-area offered a wonderful view both in the morning, during the day and in the evening.
We have already decided to return to Villagio Petruso next time we go to Sicilly:
