“Peaceful escape to the country where you can do as little or as much as you like!”
Reviewed 3 October 2017 for a stay in July 2017

My family and I have stayed at Clayhooter several times and hope to go again. The stunning setting in the rolling hills leads to beautiful walks on summer days, and the local slopes are perfect for a spot of sledging on rare snowy winter afternoons - such fun for the kids (and you don't even need to drive anywhere)! Clayhooter offers a great location for families, younger children and couples of any age. The house itself is better equipped than my own home and is spotlessly clean. We spend most of our time at the house relaxing in the conservatory with great views (sometimes deer visit the garden/field next door) and there's an oil burner in the lounge making it super cosy on chilly evenings. We love visiting the Cairngorms as there's always so much to do - swimming in the loch, taking a trip on the funicular railway to the top of a mountain, feeding deer at the visitor centre, even grass sledging one year. The coast is about half an hour drive away where you can buy fresh fish, there's also a Sea Life Centre for the children and, for the more adventurous in the winter, there is skiing at the Lecht. Banff, Braemar, Ballater, Aviemore - there are so many places to visit and the peaceful location means you can do as little or as much as you like. Writing this has made me wish I was there, you can probably tell I'm quite a fan!

“Countryside Bliss!”
Reviewed 3 October 2017 for a stay in May 2017

We stayed at Clayhooter during May. My wife, children and I had a fantastic time. The house is beautifully set in the picturesque highlands. Fantastic views from all corners of the house. The house itself was spacious and very clean. There were several TVs which saved arguments between the children and adults! :-)
The setting is what truly made the trip memorable - fantastic walks catering beginners and advanced walkers alike. Close proximity to many golf courses (I really enjoyed Huntly).
We had some great days out at places such as Ballater and Banff and I became addicted a local fish chowder called Skullen Skink!
I would highly recommend this holiday rental to anyone coming up to Aberdeenshire. There was only 4 of us, but the house would easily accommodate 8.
We are likely to return in the winter months as The Lecht and Aviemore ski resorts are within easy driving distance.

“A clean and comfortable house with stunning views”
Reviewed 1 October 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We visit Clayhooter every year for a great and relaxing holiday. During our stay we often go for walks and take trips to the sea - they are many places to visit nearby. There are brochures in the house on where to visit and also where to dine.

The house is clean and comfortable, well laid out and has stunning views. We love Clayhooter and are sure anyone else visiting will too.

“Away From It All!”
Reviewed 24 September 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We have stayed at Clayhooter on several occasions, while on holiday and exploring our roots in Aberdeenshire. It is a wonderful base for touring this beautiful area, with access to spectacular Highland scenery, golden beaches, places of interest such as castles and fishing villages, the City of Aberdeen and - in the winter - the Lecht and Cairngorm Ski Centres.

Clayhooter is situated in a very peaceful setting with open, panoramic views of the lovely surrounding countryside. The large, well-maintained garden is enclosed and, therefore, safe for children and pets, and there is ample parking for several cars. Huntly, with a number of supermarkets, is only twenty to thirty minutes' drive away, while there is a small shop at the nearby petrol station for everyday essentials.

The house is extremely well-appointed for all your holiday needs, and is a great place to return to after a long day out. It is very comfortable and relaxing, with a large sitting room, dining room and conservatory - our favourite place to sit! There is also a small patio adjacent to the conservatory, where barbecues can be enjoyed while taking in the sights and sounds of the glorious countryside. We can't wait to go back!
