We spent the morning driving around Sant’ Antioco and Calasetta - came across La Perla and decided to have lunch here. Friendly service from the outset, menu full of choice and the seafood was absolutely delicious. We ordered two seafood salads, one Catalan, one special (octopus and squid) and a few other bites. By far one of the best meals we’ve experienced as a couple. House white wine was perfectly matched too. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a fantastic dinner at La Perla. We were with our 3 young kids and ordered the sea platter with raw fish as starter for the table. It was amazing and almost enough for the whole evening. The service was relax and professional and also the main courses were great. We can absolutely recommend this restaurant!

The restaurant is small but fairly well decorated, and very busy. They placed as many tables as could possibly fit in the space in order to accommodate the demand.
Unfortunately, this renders the restaurant VERY NOISY, nearly impossible to have a conversation and be able to hear well.

Reservations recommended !

The food is delicious but the wine is bland and uninteresting.
A white glass of Vermentino at a price of €9 a glass was so disappointing, I asked to switch and the white wine that came after wasn't much better.
Pity for a place that serves seafood.

I ordered "scampi crudité" which is raw crayfish and it was indeed very delicious but expensive and you pay per 75grams.
I then ordered the mussels "soupe" and it was very tasty, with a red and lightly spicy tomato sauce.

My husband asked for recommendations on red wine and he was brought a glass of red wine without being told what it was.
He had to chase down the waitress to ask what he was served.

The waitstaff is very friendly and full of smiles but also overextended and very busy running around (adding to the noise) , so unfortunately they don't have much time to stop by any table and you need to chase them down and get their attention if you need something.

All in all, apart from the food which was delicious, the overall experience was a bit disappointing. Too noisy and too pricey for what it was.

Did have diner at La Perla following reviews from other people using Tripadvisor. One thing I do agree upon is the food quality which is great. What has been very disappointing for a restaurant with such good reviews is the quality of the serving people. We had to wait very long for everything but the serving people just serve what is finished in the kitchen and do not look to their customers at all. You have to ask for their attention, if your wine glass is empty this is not noticed so you have to ask for new drinks instead of serving people asking you if you want something else. Thus, food quality not in line with serving people. I would not recommend this restaurant!

Situated opposite a quaint fishing port, the catch of the day is just a short hop to the restaurant table. The tuna tartare was very good as you would expect from an island renowned for its tuna fishing. The clams and prawns were also very good too. Service was friendly, and the ambience was typically laid-back for a Sunday afternoon. There’s a small car park at front of restaurant.
