Since my last review, the restaurant is not so good. The food didn't seem as good as it used to be, very disappointed in the chicken and ham pie. I hope they read reviews and improve quickly.

This used to be a destination lunch spot for us until last Friday. We (three adults & a 9 year old) went for lunch but only had an hour & a half as we had an appointment. This should have been plenty of time. After ordering, then waiting 30 minutes we asked how much longer, to be told they were just doing our order. We said that we would have to leave it if our meal did not appear in the next 5 minutes. The 9 year old from London ordered her very first Cornish Pasty which we then saw them take out of the chilled display cabinet and it appeared - hot, with our order. Hot pasty obviously microwaved!!. Sacrilege! The pastry was so tough none of us could cut into it. Also by now the room was full of smeech and the smell of burning. We did complain and ask for a refund as we had to rush the meal and leave the pasty as no alternative was offered. We were told they would only refund the pasty but not the other meals, although we could have free drinks & cakes to take away. The girl in charge explained that they had issues in the kitchen (obviously) and their chef had left. They were telling other customers that there would be a 30 minute wait but never came to explain this to us. But..they keep having meetings to discuss these issues....... My advice - fewer meetings and more positive action. I will be lunching at the local farm shop from now on.

My friend and I stopped here for a cup of tea and a rest after driving for four hours we went into the large restaurant and was immediately told by a stroppy young girl that she hoped we didn't want food as she wasn't doing any as she wanted to crlear up and get home as it was only ten to four I asked if we could have a sandwich or a piece of toast ,told no ,how difficult is it to make a sandwich or put a piece of bread in a toaster needless to say won't be back .get some older polite staff who know how to treat customers .

Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. I'm sorry to hear about your illness although I would like to assure you that we feel it was not caused by our ham and cheese sandwich. Our ingredients are locally sourced and freshly delivered most days, we maintain a high food hygiene standard and staff are trained with all up to day food handling processes. I have also checked our records and seen there were several sandwiches sold on the day of your visit and we had no other complaints matching yours. We do hope to see you again in the future.
