“Amazing Family Space”
Reviewed 12 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

This is a very special place. There were delicious scones, homemade jam and apple juice, freshly laid eggs and clotted cream on arrival. There was lovely handmade soap available and everything that you need for a self catering holiday. Cooking on a range was interesting (can make great toast on it) and there is a conventional oven too. The open barn opposite had table tennis and badminton plus ride on toys for younger children. The garden is beautiful with use of a trampoline and swing. It suited us perfectly, 3 couples and 4 teenagers plus 1 dog. 1 of our group is disabled and was able to cope with the barn, bearing in mind this is a very old barn that was converted in the 90's. There are ramps accessing all areas, but they are long and uneven in some parts. The owners were extremely accommodating and bought a shower stool for the en suite bathroom.plus there is a disabled shower room on the living area level.
This barn is beautiful and atmospheric full of lovely art and books. The children played the piano, had many table tennis matches, collected eggs and went fishing. A lovely relaxing holiday away from the beach but still within striking distance of both the north and south coast. I can't wait to return.

“A big experience in a wonderful and big house”
Reviewed 13 April 2017 for a stay in May 2016

Hello! We went to Cornwall last year, but today looking for a new place i remembered Penrest and they ( Jo and James) deserve our opinion because we stayed there 7 incredible days. We are 2 adults and a 7 and 2 years old boys. But it fits 7-8 people perfectly. House is very well decorated, has an amazing kitchen ( i can't remember the name but it's an amazing kitchen). Near the house there are plenty of path to walk and see their beautiful sheeps. There also a lot of things for our boys to play. And we could pick the eggs ourselves from the chickens!!. Thank you!
All is very spacious and you get easily 2 different spaces for you and for the kids in the library, in the dinning room, etc. I hope to come back soon or later. There was plenty of things to see in Cornwall, and East Penrest give us a comfortable, very reasonable priced, well placed, etc.
Greettingsfrom Ana, Marcel, Marc and Albert!

If you want space, peace and quiet and a safe place to take your kids exploring - off line! East Penrest is ideal (and yes the wifi is excellent!) This is a perfect place to stay if you want to get the family together for some quality time, with comfortable living and sleeping space available for extended families or friends in this well equipped converted barn. You can walk to the Springer Spaniel gastro dining pub which is delicious with far more than plain average pub food or you can stay home and enjoy some low slow and delicious cooking on the giant aga, maybe even fry yourself some free range organic eggs! The animals are all very well cared for and friendly, and Jess will love you even more if you throw sticks for her! The air is so clean with spray free wholesome living and there are plenty of country walks to tire out little legs - or even big ones! Jo and James will make you feel so welcome you won't want to leave. We left feeling rejuvenated and ready to face the outside world again!

“A perfect and welcoming location”
Reviewed 31 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

This is such an amazing place! The Barn has been lovingly converted and is luxurious while Jo and James were the perfect hosts. They ensured that we were welcomed (the scones and cream welcoming gift was a really nice touch!) and they gave us the opportunity to help on the farm (inviting us to help move sheep!). Having said that, they left us to our own devices so we could enjoy the holiday. The barn had everything we needed and the range cooker (similar to Aga) was a new experience for us town folk! I would recommend this to everybody and I would definitely be coming back. Thank you Jo and James.

“Exceptional”
Reviewed 26 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We had no idea how luxurious this trip would be. Jo and James have thought of everything. The most country chic holiday you could have. Would recommend to anyone. The most comfortable bed, beautiful interior, fires a plenty, and electricity and hot water in this remote little hut! Fresh scones on arrival, fresh eggs for breakfast and a beautiful view of kit hill. Stayed up half the night making fire in the fire pit and toasting marshmallows. Best country retreat ever xx
