Recently stayed in the Celtic Ross Hotel for two nights in what was our first venture into West Cork I'm sort of ashamed to say. We availed of the two for the price of one deal which was superb value ... ask if such is available when making a booking.
As others have said it is a very good location for touring in West Cork as it is just a few minutes from Clonakilty which we visited on our second day for the Clonakilty Market which was just OK.
The hotel looks on to the lagoon so rooms with a view (which we were assigned) are very good but I was awakened by morning traffic noise. We began each day with two lovely walks ... the first on Warren Beach and the second on the Pier Walk ... just cross the road and away you go. You'll be the better for it.
The rooms are very comfortable but maybe a little dated but that was not a problem. Everything was clean and in perfect working order including very good free Wi fi.
On our first day, based on the recommendation of one of the waitresses, we travelled to Drombeg Stone Circle (go see) followed by a food stop at beautiful bathed in mid-October sunshine Glandore (Hayes Bar ... excellent see separate review), Union Hall and Skibereen and stopped off at Leap on the return journey to look at the famous waterfall.
The Hotel has a very fine lobby-lounge area, I used the gym (small), pool and sauna. All in good working order.
The hotel staff were friendly and efficient although when I enquired about evening dining the information was vague.
Breakfast was standard fare and might have placed a greater emphasis on fish given its location but that is to quibble.
Overall very satisfactory stay. The real test is would we return? Most certainly and we will when we return to West Cork.
