My first impressions of this hotel. Just checked in with a tour group for four days.
The location is picturesque but the hotel pictures are deceiving. Our room has an eye-level view of a parking lot, the pool is freezing cold, the so called "steps to the beach" are down a steep road that you share with cars. The real beach is also on the other side of town. Our buffet dinner was poor (selection and quality) and you have to pay cash for water and wine - they don't charge it to your room.
The room is clean, but the bed is defiantly on the firm (as a rock) side and the long narrow room layout is ridiculous. Can't even watch the tv while in bed!

Many people will go to this hotel and thoroughly enjoy it but like I say in the title it missed the target for me. The hotel has a good lounge/reception area which is comfortable and cool. It also has a fairly large pool with very good quality sun beds and brollies however for the number of guests and visitors they are very limited but I will come back to this. Bed rooms are a good size but the furniture is a bit dark and dreary as well as being over large and we found moving around the room difficult. One of the reasons we booked the hotel was for the views as we like to spend time relaxing and enjoying the view. from its elevated position the views are excellent from the large balcony. However it was so hot on the balcony that you could not spend more than a few minutes outside. If you were in the posh apartments on the top floor you had an awning to offer shade but the vast majority of the hotel balconies were totally open and exposed from daybreak until sunset and very few people made any use of them. balcony furniture was not great either maybe reflecting the intense heat it had to suffer. As I said the hotel is elevated and you should take this into account if you are infirm in any way.
The pool although a good size was often inaccessible. This is because many locals and tourists were encouraged to to make use of it As a result it was often full of children from other properties often unsupervised or many of the local youths from the area. We stopped using it after about four days when as we were swimming a number of the local youths arrived and started to remove our things from our beds as we were in the pool. One of them then went into my wifes bag and started rummaging around in it. We stopped them and then went to complain to reception about them . However we were made to feel as though we had done something wrong and should be more relaxed about people taking our things. The manager eventually caught up with us a few days later to apologise and offered us a free drink but did nothing to stop the same group from coming in and doing the same thing everyday. To my mind the hotel guests come first but to the hotel its clear that they already have your money and invite as many outsiders in as they can in order to make more. Not on.
Breakfast at the hotel is as good as any I have had with a wide variety of foods and plenty of it. However the attitude of some guests needs to be challenged as they would come in and pile up plates of food and take it back to their rooms as food for the day. This often left certain items missing on a regular basis. Greedy pigs.
The staff working in the breakfast room were delightful but failed to challenge these gluttons.
Staff at the pool bar were also very nice. We would have had several meals in the hotel restaurant had they treated us better over the swimming incident but were not inclinded to spend more money in the hotel after that.
Tolo is a great place. laid back and underdeveloped which we enjoyed. Restaurants line the full klength of the beach and as we didint use the pool we ended up spending the whole day on the beach. Going out at 10am and not returning until midnight. Many wonderful days.
Although there seemed plenty of house maids cleaning was no better than average. Beds were not made up on several days.

Room Tip: Apartments on top floor if you don't want to frazzle.

We stayed for a couple of days after our return from Mani. We stayed in a spacious three bed room with a nice view to the sea. Our daughter enjoyed the big pool, we enjoyed the beautiful view, the food at the pool bar was decent, breakfast was excellent and all staff were very polite. Only problem : at the pool there were not enough umbrellas and with such hot sunny days there was not enough cool places for all the customers. The parking was okay and the location of the hotel was easy to find and to access. Finally Tolon has a beautiful sandy beach and we enjoyed the sea swimming too!

Room Tip: Choose a room with sea view

We were coming to visit family in Greece and booked this hotel for 3 nights last minute. Due to some plane issues, we did not arrive until 5 am! We were greeted by a very nice man who welcomed all 7 of us very tired travelers with a smile and helped us with ALL of our bags. He got us into our rooms and made sure everything was good. He was awesome.

The rooms are very large and nicely decorated. The bathroom is decent sized and has a large jetted tub. The best part is the view from the balcony. We were on the 5th floor and had the most gorgeous views of the sea! The balcony is very large with 2 lounge chairs, a table and a drying rack for clothes.

The hotel has a very nice size pool with a bar. It has great views and great service at the bar. The hotel also has a free breakfast with a very nice selection of food and drink and has wonderful attendants replenishing food and cleaning tables.

The location is another plus for this hotel. Just a short walk and you are at the beach and on the main street with restaurants and shops galore. We have stayed in quite a few cities on our month long journey in Greece, and have decided Tolon is our favorite city. It has plenty of things to do and eat, but is a lot more quiet than other tourist spots.

We loved staying here and tried again for dates later in our trip, but they were booked. And I can see why, best hotel in Greece!

Room Tip: Request 5th floor room for the best sea views!

My family stayed at the Hotel King Minos for 7 nights. We had 2 rooms, one room was a quad for the teenage children and the other room was a suite. The Quad wad clean and comfortable. The suite was beautiful with amazing views on the sea. It is a short walk to the beach and many wonderful restaurants. We loved sitting by the pool and relaxing. The pool side food and drinks were very good. Staff was very helpful and professional. One thing to recommend is to rent a small boat from Telis (the hotel will tell you were he is located). We rented a boat and had a great time finding a small un-populated beach to hang out and swim. The water was beautiful.
