First- a year before we had a decent flight on this airline from Paris to Rome. However, this last experience was a nightmare! We were scheduled for a 2:00 pm ish flight from Rome to Vienna. With a full night of accommodations and activities planned in Vienna. We were at the airport in plenty of time. The flight kept getting delayed and gate changes made. No reasons were given for the delays- all illusive. They finally fed us dinner around 7pm. No one could leave because they had our luggage and did not cancel the flight - so no trip insurance would apply. After dinner were taken to yet another gate. We finally boarded a plane around 11 pm, only to be deboarded in 45 min. Because flight crew had timed out! They did board us yet again, but then announced w were not going to take off- no reason. When we went back in to the airport- other Vueling passengers were asleep on the floor. They finally, after much pressure from the passengers, took us by bus to a hotel. No more food till morning. The check in process took up to two hours for some passengers. The flight was rescheduled the next day at 1:30 pm. We needed to get back home and had no more money or time to spend in Vienna and had missed our connecting flight. They provided no courtesy phones or availability to make other plans, nor a cancellation. We did get our bags at the hotel at 2am. We spent $100 on phone calls to American Airlines. We lost $700 of activities in Vienna. When I asked an airline employee how often this happens- she said about once daily!
They have never made any compensation, which by EU law they are suppose to do and were suppose to offer availability to make other plans and courtesy phones- as well as monetary reimbursement according to a certain pay schedule. We should have received about $500. They did say we could have air fare reimbursed but never have received it! I would beg you not to take this airline.
