“Very good low-coster”
Review of Transavia

Reviewed 5 April 2018

Low cost no frills airline.
New planes, nice and clean. Good service.
As with other low costers, you need to pay for food, drinks (even for water) and checked in luggage. But the overall price was worth it in our case.
Be prepared that if your hand luggage is a trolley, it might not be admitted into the cabin (it is also mentioned in the ticket). So if there is something in your trolley that you really want to take on board (e.g. laptop, book, sandwiches :)), please have a small bag ready

Booked a package, so no choice in airline. Clearely a low cost airline, because it looks like the seating space is getting smaller and smaller each year. Not comfortable at all for a 5 hours flight.
Because of the pilot it was a real sightseeing trip from Eindhoven-Marsa Alam. He told us a lot about the lands we were flying above. Great!

We booked our Southern Spain trip through Delta and ended up flying KLM (Delta’s partner) from LAX to Amsterdam, connecting from there to Seville on Transavia, KLM’s low cost subsidiary. The boarding gate was on ground level of Terminal C of the Schiphol Amsterdam Airport. Boarding was somewhat haphazard: the ground crew did not provide useful boarding or queuing instructions. We were finally let out in groups to board shuttle buses that took us to a parked.Boeing 737. We ascended the steps with our luggage. Then we sat on the plane for an hour and a half before taking off for the 3 hour flight! And beverages are not complimentary (rather pricy). Seville airport is small. FYI: luggage of travelers from US or non-EU countries are delivered on a separate conveyor belt.

The price was right, which is why we chose it. However, the credit card machine did not accept our credit cards, likely because we are not from EU countries. We didn't know this and while we had dirhams, which is the currency of the country from which we left, they did not accept those either. If the flights had actually been 6.5-7 hours it was supposed to be, maybe this would not have been a problem. However, we had to fly a very indirect route to fill the plane with gas, which was not mentioned in the itinerary when we booked. When we stopped for fuel it snowed heavily and we sat at the airport in the plane for nearly 3 hours. Because they wouldn't accent our money or our credit cards we had no food or water for what eventually became a 10 hour flight. We arrived at 3AM instead of 11:30 so most places were closed when we arrived. They didn't offer us water of anything to eat while we sat for 3 hours waiting for snow to subside.
Also, when we arrived at our departure airport we asked to book seats in an isle and window but we were td the flight was completely full. When we boarded the FA told us it was not full and we saw many people enjoying the empty space and sitting with their partners as we had hoped but were misled.
Besides this experience the flights were fine.
