“Do not book with Thai!”
Review of Thai Airways

Reviewed 30 January 2025

My husband and I had travelled with Thai to Thailand twice before our recent trip. We had found the airline to be efficient, "elegant" and comfortable. A credit to their country.
Sadly the quality of their international service has declined a lot in the last few years. Whether this can be attributed to Covid, I cant say, but there was a big difference.
Check in and Boarding were chaotic. (Except in Sydney) We sat on the floor in Bangkok along with hundreds of others waiting for the gate lounge to open. It was awful. There were few clear directions or instructions when calling passengers to board. Every man for himself!!
On board the staff were rude or indifferent. Food was average and the drink service almost non existent. After the food service there was no offer of snacks or even water. It was abysmal and so different to the service we received in the past.
The cabin was noisy....kids listening to things without headphones in the middle of a night flight. People opening the window shutters in the middle of the night and not being asked by the staff to lower them. It seemed like the staff couldn't care less.

As a passenger you rely on the cabin crew to keep everything civilised, otherwise you get arguments between passengers and that is never going to end well.

I have resolved never to fly with Thai again and will never recommend them to anyone. I have flown with many many airlines and I was shocked by the demise of a once beautiful airline.

No issues at all, the self-check-in procedure was a bit unusual, but once the first one was through, the rest was pretty straight forward, just no explanation on how things were to be done. Boarding was done by zones which eliminated the gate lice. Plenty of room made for a relaxing flight. No real inflight service, just a water and a small cake.

I booked my flight home from Manila to Paris for over €1,000 in economy class with Thai Airways, and it was a nightmare.
First, the flight was delayed for more than five hours in Manila. It was supposed to depart at 7:00 PM, but I wasn’t moved to another flight until 12:45 AM. I was eventually rebooked onto a Qatar Airways flight, as staying with Thai Airways would have meant spending an additional day at the airport. On the Qatar Airways flight, I was given a middle seat that was extremely narrow and positioned in front of an air conditioning unit—absolutely horrible. The €1,000 I had paid for my Thai Airways seat and its supposed perks was completely wasted.

After a layover in Doha, we finally arrived in Paris more than seven hours late, causing me to miss my bullet train to the south of France, which cost another €300.

I hoped to receive some form of compensation from Thai Airways for this entire ordeal, but I got absolutely nothing. My complaints were ignored, and when I did get a response, it was dismissive and unprofessional.

While I’ve flown with Thai Airways several times within Thailand and had great experiences, their international service is far below standard. The customer service, pricing, and management are terrible—flights are almost always delayed, and there’s no accountability for the damages caused. This experience was a nightmare: nearly a two-day journey, almost €2,000 wasted and not even for bussines. Absolutely not recommended, will not even fly them within Thailand anymore, one customer lost for ever.

On January 16 2025 my daughter was denied boarding on a connecting flight due to missing data on boarding pass. Flight TG9024/TK1991. First she had a six hour layover at Istanbul airport. At the gate when scanning her boarding pass before entering the plane the staff told her that they could not see her ticket on their system. After scanning it multiple times they ultimately told her to go to a Turkish airlines desk as they could not allow her to enter the plane. There they told her to find a transfer desk for Thai airlines. The man there said that he could see her name but some ticket number was missing and that it was the fault of the agent where the ticket was bought. However agent Trip.com insist that everything was in place. Her ticket was paid for and she was at the gate with plenty of time before its closing so there was not error on her part. In the end Thai airways told us that my daughter didn't show up for the flight🙈 Noone help no thai airwais no trip.com . We had to spend lots of money for a hotel and for a new ticket.
So I don’t recommend #thaiairways and #tripcom
