I booked my flight home from Manila to Paris for over €1,000 in economy class with Thai Airways, and it was a nightmare.
First, the flight was delayed for more than five hours in Manila. It was supposed to depart at 7:00 PM, but I wasn’t moved to another flight until 12:45 AM. I was eventually rebooked onto a Qatar Airways flight, as staying with Thai Airways would have meant spending an additional day at the airport. On the Qatar Airways flight, I was given a middle seat that was extremely narrow and positioned in front of an air conditioning unit—absolutely horrible. The €1,000 I had paid for my Thai Airways seat and its supposed perks was completely wasted.
After a layover in Doha, we finally arrived in Paris more than seven hours late, causing me to miss my bullet train to the south of France, which cost another €300.
I hoped to receive some form of compensation from Thai Airways for this entire ordeal, but I got absolutely nothing. My complaints were ignored, and when I did get a response, it was dismissive and unprofessional.
While I’ve flown with Thai Airways several times within Thailand and had great experiences, their international service is far below standard. The customer service, pricing, and management are terrible—flights are almost always delayed, and there’s no accountability for the damages caused. This experience was a nightmare: nearly a two-day journey, almost €2,000 wasted and not even for bussines. Absolutely not recommended, will not even fly them within Thailand anymore, one customer lost for ever.
