I am extremely disappointed with Qatar Airways' handling of my mother in Law aged 87, recent ticket change request. Despite their advertised policies and passenger rights regulations, they refused to accommodate a reasonable modification to her booking, causing significant inconvenience and financial loss.

• Nature of the Complaint: The first segment of the journey was utilized on Monday, 13 May 2024, from IKA to LAX via Doha. A prior change request for the return flight was processed for 12 September 2024, with the applicable penalty paid in full. The return flight was subsequently rebooked for Saturday, 11 January 2025.
She required to extend her stay in the United States until the end of March 2025 due to a pressing medical condition/test. Despite her attempts to reschedule the return flight, she has encountered persistent obstacles.
Her Experience:
When we contacted Qatar Airways to modify her ticket, we were met with unhelpful responses and a refusal to honor their own policies. Customer service was slow to respond, and when they did, they provided conflicting information. Despite multiple attempts to escalate the matter, our requests were ignored, leaving her with no viable solution:
1. Online Attempts: Attempts to make the change via Qatar Airways website were unsuccessful, even though seat availability in business class was shown for the requested date!
2. Travel Agent Assistance: The travel agent in Tehran was similarly unable to process the change, as the system indicated no availability despite seats being visible for new bookings!
3. Visit to Tehran Office: Visit of their office in Tehran received with the same unsatisfactory response!
4. Contact with Doha Office: Upon contacting their Doha office on January 1st 2025, we were advised—after a 20-minute call—to approach my travel agent again, offering no resolution to the issue!!
5. Several chat sessions have been held without success!
6. Complaint to customer care at : tell-us@qatarairways.com.qa remained unsuccessful!
7. Finally she was not able to show her in the Airport and was penalize for almost all thicket cost!!
Why This Matters:
As a leading airline, Qatar Airways should prioritize customer service and transparency. However, their handling of my issue has been frustrating and unacceptable. Airlines should respect their passengers' rights and provide fair resolutions instead of hiding behind vague policies or making systematically passengers unable to make change in the flights.
Final Thoughts:
I expected better from an airline that claims to be one of the world’s best. I strongly urge Qatar Airways to improve their customer service and uphold their policies. I also warn fellow travelers to be cautious when booking with them, especially if flexibility is needed.
