We flew QR909 & QR145 to Barcelona & return from Sydney as they were the best price that matched our itinerary. A380 planes are definitely the best for long haul in economy class. Overall we had a great experience flying Qatar. The only negative was the food, simply not up to the top quality of the other major airlines. Unfortunately, they’ve excessively increased their pricing, hence, I’ve not had another opportunity to fly with them again.

Modern aircrafts with a good entertainment system and a very wide selection. Service good. Meals about average. No hidden extras for luggage etc.

I usually fly to NZ via Asia... especially Singapore...and that remains my preferred routing compared to the main alternative of the Middle East... but I had chosen to fly via Doha in order to experience Qatar Airlines and their super long 2nd leg of 16-17 hours. In business I choose an aisle seat in the middle to avoid disturbing/being disturbed by other passengers. On this flight I was lucky to have the seat next to me vacant and so I could spread out a little more. The seat itself was a little bigger and more comfortable than the leg from London to Doha, which was much appreciated. the movie selection was much wider and the food was same as the other leg.The service was friendly and efficient.... I slept well and overall was I surprised and pleased at how well this long flight passed.

Amongst the best deals that I had reviewed prior to booking, Thai was cheaper but I opted for Qatar as they had recently been voted No.1 airline by SkyTrax. The whole boarding operation from LGW went as usual and I'd booked an aisle seat in the centre in order to avoid having anyone climbing over me or vice versa. The seat wasn't ny different from most other airlines and not as good as my favourite, Singapore Airlines. The movie selection was noticeably less than others. The food was ok without being great. The service was friendly and efficient. I had a better experience on the next leg of my journey from Doha to Auckland... see separate review.

Now been sitting on the flight for more than 1h, waiting. Space is also tight. Best airline in the world, do not think so. Ok, we got water and chocolates. Not a good first encounter with this airline!
