“Don't fly long distance with them.”
Review of Eurowings

Reviewed 17 August 2017

We had booked some good value seats on return flights from London Stansted to Bangkok with a change at Cologne-Bonn. The short flight from London to Germany was fine and standard for a European short flight.

The long distance flight was not as enjoyable. We presumed - like every other long distance flight we've been on - that movies and food would be included in the ticket price. It wasn't. We were surprised when the food was served and we were left out. We also didn't have access to the entertainment package on board - this was an extra ten euros per person. Not ideal for a 12 hour flight. Maybe our mistake for not seeing this at booking so we paid for some food, although we weren't allowed a hot meal, just one option of a sandwich. However this took a while as despite pressing the call button many times no-one came to take our order. In fact, we tried to get the attention of different attendants but they all seemed too busy helping those in first class or in the premium section. It was half an hour between deciding to pay for food and ordering it. We were also surprised to see that there wasn't any comfort for passengers - no blankets or pillows. Although there was the option to buy a blanket for six euros...

Wanting to avoid this again, we went online in Asia before our return flights and paid extra to specify our seats, which the website said included a meal and the entertainment package. This wasn't true. Although we were served a meal we did not have the entertainment package as promised. We raised this an air hostess and pointed out that we had paid online specifically for this but she just unhelpfully shrugged and said it had to be paid for on the flight. Most of the attendants on the flight were rude and helpful - at one point I tried to enter the toilet and one hostess put her hand in the way to block me, said 'stop' and then went in herself without any explanation or apology.

We will be actively avoiding flying with them again.

Very disappointing ground floor service!

The check in was below average, we seemed to have disturbed the lady behind the counter who was not aware of the 45 min delay on all the screens and when we asked about connecting flight she just answered she could not help.

The lady at the gate who announced the delay was extremely rude when we asked about our connecting flight. She was in her 50's and should know better about customer service.
She could not be bothered about our concern of missing our connecting flight and although we were the only ones at the counter. She literally told us off and went back to her mobile phone.
We will think twice next time we book our flight to Germany.

The plane was clean and had plenty of leg room and boarding went very efficiently. The plane was mostly empty and seats were all rearranged but then they gave everyone complimentary sandwiches and drinks to make up fr seat confusion. Nice staff, good flight.
Hint re Vienna airport though. Security is right at the gate and once you have gone through there is nothing to do ! no shops only a vending machine, so hold off going through security until close to the flight.

Due to an hour delay from London Stn we arrived late to meet our connection flight at Cologne going to Windhoek Namibia.
We arrived just as the plane had finished boarding, they started to allow us through then a group of men looked at us & said the plane has already left the runway.
One guy then casually made a phone call as if he was deciding what pizza to order, he said it's too late the plane had gone!
While waiting, stranded in the ghost town that is eurowings they text me to say your flight has been rescheduled to 45 minutes later. I saw the text past the time stated so was unable to board...yet again! A text? What ever happened to an announcement? Maybe I'm old fashioned but why should it be down to the customer to sort out this mess.
There was nobody from Eurowings or any other airline anywhere in the airport.
So after being turned away we found out the aeroplane had been waiting for us all along, plus 3 more passengers who we had got to know by this time! Wtf!!! So we could have flown after all.
Nobody from Eurowings would be available until 2am.
We then questioned the whereabouts of our luggage. Basically it's lost! They don't know if it went to Windhoek for a holiday without us.
Nobody in lost & found until 5am. This of course came & went & at 7.30am we managed the get in to the office to find no bags!
The only person who showed any empathy & offered an help & support was one guy from the airline who looked like he was going to have a nervous breakdown & seemed totally used to this sort of problem.
The staff here were absolutely awful. Dismissive, rude, unhelpful.....I could go on. Anything just to send us away.
It's like we were just abandoned & nobody wanted to help or even cared. One lady said she's actually helped us more then she needed to & it wasn't her problem. She had a Eurowings uniform on but maybe this was just role play.
Still no news on our luggage!!!
Any assistance is like getting blood out of a stone with Eurowings.
Bad airline, totally incompetent & rude staff!
Book with somebody else & save yourself a whole load of time, money & heartache, oh & sanity!

Booked on euro wings for the first time during my European holiday and had an absolute ball. No issues with booking or checking in, everything went really smoothly. Got a seat up the front of the plane so I was out nice and quick after the plane landed. The hosties were polite and very helpful, all in all I really couldn't fault the airline. Just remember you get what you pay for.... Enjoy..
