“High premium for seats with legspace”
Review of Etihad Airways

Checkin at Islamabad was ok. However, when when we asked to be adjusted on seats with good leg space, we were informed that it will cost us approx 132 US$ per seat (32$ for Islamabad to Abu Dhabi and 100$ from Abu Dhabi to Barcelona). Of course we didn't want to pay extra US$ 396 for three of us so were settled for our regular seats which didn't have a good room space. For a tall person like me, 7 hours journey to Barcelona wasn't very comfortable and specially so, when we saw almost all the seats with good leg space lying vacant. No one had purchased them, perhaps due to the high cost and the staff wouldn't let anyone sit there during the flight. I think Etihad really need to analyse this policy that by asking such a high premium for these seats, are they earning more or losing?
Food and beverages were good. Etihad has its own style when it comes to foods.... a fast food style but it is good. Service was very good. In flight entertainment was good too. In Islamabad-Abu Dhabi portion, there were no LCDs available and one had to use own mobile / tablet / laptop to connect to the inflight entertainment through a Wi-Fi. That was ok though

Well, it's been an extremely delightful flight, Miss Jane is definitely a remarkable person that I actually met on my AUH - FRA Route. Since I'm a Gold Member and this time just spontaneously booked a Reward ticket from and to PVG, it was an honor to be upgraded on my inbound flight. Overall, grateful that they granted the upgrade, since my spouse is also a Gold member she also got it as well. Great flight and service.

i recently booked a flight with Etihad directly through their website and they charged me twice!!! The flights cost over $3,400 for myself and two kids. It put me into all sorts of difficulty because my card was frozen and I then had to find several thousand dollars to transfer into the account to get my card working. This was incredibly inconvenient to say the least. Meanwhile, I found myself unable to pay for a visit to the doctor which was quite embarrassing at the time.

I spoke to someone in customer service who was really unsympathetic and quite frankly did not care about my $3,400 getting frozen and told me to send a bank statement to a generic email address. I was outraged! I insisted on speaking to a team leader and pointed out that bank statements come in arrears, at least a month and I do not have the time to waste wondering when I’m going to get my money back.

The money was frozen from my account on Dec 2 and I’m still waiting. I am bitterly disappointed with this as I have flown Etihad many times in the past and never had this trouble.

Judging from the reviews here, I’m not the only one this has happened to. My advice? Don’t pay through the Etihad website or maybe just don’t fly Etihad.

Very slow checking in at Ahmedabad. Baggage tagged incomplete to the final destination. No support in seat adjustments even though auh-yyz flight had empty seats. Average food. Inflight crew was good.

I booked my ticket from Edinburgh to Abu Dhabi through KLM who then booked me on an Etihad flight for the return leg only.
When I booked in Etihad staff advised I had no baggage allowance and did not recognise the KLM allowance with the result I had to pay £385 for one suitcase weighing 18 Kgs.
Check the small print if you are flying with Etihad.
Their staff followed the rules with no flexibility.
