Good service and newish aircraft,with working entertainment facilities.
I bid on and got 2 extra seats from Abu Dhabi to Melbourne 13 hours flight. $400. Cost. This meant I could lay down and sleep, as I had to work next day on arrival. I hadn’t seen this type of offer before, but I just bid what it was worth to me to sleep for 8 hours. Each seat was $200. But I wanted 2 seats otherwise i wouldn’t have been able to lay down.
Etihad sent an email a few days before flight and you can offer what you want, if it appeals to you. On this occasion it did.
Food was pretty good also, well...for airline food anyway .

I understand Etihad have had some recent financial woes and this is why they have cancelled the chauffeur service (no problem, Amex send me a car anyway) and don't hand out PJ's in Business class anymore (also OK, I always bring my own) but unfortunately these woes are showing on the flights.
The issues I had on my flights were consistent across all 4 flights so I suspect they may be consistent across the airline. Service, while friendly, was patchy at best. You're asked for your meal and drink order before take off, you get your drink, your meal and that's it. No offer of top ups, no offers of water, nothing. The crew just disappear. The bathrooms were poorly maintained, often running out of toilet paper. The cabin itself was quite shabby and in poor repair. The lie flat bed is nice but it's not particularly comfortable. The entertainment system was OK but my headphones didn't work on one leg and the USB ports didn't work on another leg. Sure, it's still better than flying economy but given the price they're charging, they need to lift their game. Emirates and Qatar are far superior airlines.

I received 6 emails asking me to upgrade or buy seats next to me. On the previous flight to Abu Dhabi I asked at check in we could move forward they said no places. But flight half empty. Food bad. No fruit but service quick

First and last flight on this airline they are pathetic, first they canceled my direct flight from Edinburgh to Abu Dhabi forcing me to travel to London at my expense.They changed my seat that I payed extra for, the food was rubbish I could go on and on.
Never again

My parents had a scary and unpleasant experience on Washington D.C, USA bound flight EY131 on 9/16/2019. In midair, over the Atlantic, the aircraft lights became dim, A/C was turned off and it became difficult to breathe. Then they noticed on the screen that the flight diverted from its track and was headed North. It was announced that due to a technical difficulty the flight will make a stopover in Dublin, Ireland. The In flight entertainment system was stopped and only minimal cabin lights were on. The flight landed in Dublin and passengers were made to sit on the tarmac with minimal lighting and Air conditioning. There was no clear communication on the next steps causing uneasiness and panic among the passengers. A printed document with vague details was circulated. The document did not specify the nature of the technical problem or what steps were being taken to resolve and what to expect. The same flight took off from Dublin after a couple of hours.

The remaining part of the journey over the Atlantic was completed with a heightened sense of fear and anxiety. My parents breathed a sigh of relief only after the plane touched down at Washington Dulles at 9:20 PM ET (delayed by 4 hours).
We still do not have a clear understanding of what really happened and how it was addressed, I would expect Etihad to have handled the situation better and communicated more effectively. I always book tickets on Etihad for my parents but after this incident, I will be exploring other options.
