“Won’t fly again”
Review of Cathay Pacific

Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Our flights were delayed every time. Our new baggage was broken and they refused to reimburse us. They charged us $210 for one extra bag/one way after refusing to disclose the price pre-flight.

I have flow Cathay Pacific for around 10 years, achieving Diamond status for the last two. I supported Cathay through covid, flying them even though they were more expensive - just to support keeping the firm in business. I even bought Cathay stock.

Today though, marks the end of my loyalty. And all because of the Cathay lounge manager's inability to support a simple customer request.

My partner and I were travelling several hours apart from HKG and so I checked prior to checking in if Dimaond members can bring a guest to thr lounge flying on a different airline (answer was yes). Arriving at the lounge I was told that my partner could not enter (even though travelling on a Cathay 100% owned subsidiary). The staff refused to budge - either I pay equivalent of 360USD in points, or come in alone. Clearly neither was an acceptable option for me.

Rather than see the greater good of my loyalty and support for Cathay over the years, instead she stuck firm on the he policy. Not even for a single exception, the first time I have ever brought a guest. And, Cathay's membership pages do NOT specify the guest must fly on the same airline. So instead, I went to Prestige Lounge and paid $30USD and am now in the procees of selling my stock and switching my future flights to Star Alliance partners.

One supervisors poor choices and actions resulted in the loss of tens of thousands of USD in flight revenue, loyalty, and goodwill. And for what? Because policy was more important.

Sad. Very sad. Goodbye Cathay.

Bad service. I ask for normal water coz i am 27 weeks pregnant at that time but unavailable. Food was served twice only. I chose vegetarian option but the salad has meat. Very uncomfy seat esp leg room. Cabin crews never helped me with my hand carry bag. I was disappointed with their service unlike other airlines. lack of pregnancy assistance. Rude cabin crews.

Its one of pathetic service with terrible policies. They want old people to have accounts to get benefits. Secondly, flight was cancelled and informed on the day it was going to fly—such bad airlines to deal with.

I booked business flights from Melbourne to Hong Kong, - Hong Kong to Beijing- Beijing to Hong Kong- Hong Kong to melbourne.
All booked for business - the flight from melbourne - Hong Kong was fine, however the plane was old and not clean.
The flight from Hong Kong to Beijing was a smaller plane, awful - very old plane and dirty.
The flight from Beijing to Hong Kong was shocking, they put me on an Air China economy flight even though I paid for business class!!. - I called them regarding this issue, but they said I bought a sale business flight, and they couldn't do anything about it. clearly you need to be aware of this appalling business transaction.
The place was old, the food was so bad. Thankfully it was a short trip.
The flight home from Hong Kong to melb was again on an old plane.
They need to update their fleet, I will look for other airlines other than them next time.
