Initially travelled SIN to BKK with Cathay Pacific (CP) which was a nightmare due to their luggage piece system.
As a BA Gold Member had flown from ABZ to SIN in business with family and after few days of fun in Singapore was heading to Bangkok to do it all again.
At the airport as BA Gold has free extra luggage allowance of 2x23KG but only had one hold case at 27KG which according to their piece system was too heavy and was told had to remove 4KG and get another case !!
Explained had travelled with ONE case from UK but it took almost 45mins of arguing and speaking with managers before was allowed my 27KG in ONE case!!
Boarded flight and air crew were fantastic throughout the journey.
One leg down, one leg to return!
At BKK expected big issues after scenes at SIN and on web (below) but it not only was fine it turned into a dream!
At check-in AREEYA asked where we were travelling to and we said SIN but heading back to ABZ via SIN and LHR but that we had TWO BOOKINGS!
She then said that was NOT a problem and spent 10mins organising our cases from BKK all way to ABZ which was a fantastic outcome to which we are eternally grateful!
(Especially as had spoke via webchat with CP a week before our return who after 5 hours of chat with FOUR DIFFERENT people REFUSED to allow cases to travel to ABZ!)
During August was in a dilemma as was Gold with One World, Skyteam and Star Alliance (was 1st time ever) but could not sustain all 3 so was on point of dropping 2 Frequent Flyer programs.
One World was going because of problems with CP at SIN which I never wish to have happen again!
But because of AREEYA and the exceptional experience at BKK along with the fantastic CP flight staff in BOTH directions we are staying with ONE WORLD.
It goes to show if you receive a good experience when flying it is well worth asking first!
