I am a Fan of Cathay Pacific and rank it based on my experience including the one last month with family to South Korea as the very best amongst the big players. However had a very unpleasant experience today in the CX 906 (Manali to Mumbai ).
Scenario 1 :-
I boarded early hence was observing the crew and their interactions with the passengers. I was shocked to see how Mr. Alan (Crew) was speaking rudely and in loud voice with many of the passengers. Couple of passengers I think took some time to place the luggage overboard to which he got pissed off which was visible from his face reactions and body language. Once all had put their luggage, Alan walked down the aisle slamming and closing all the overboard luggage compartments one by one very hard. His anger was visible while he was doing the same. I did not in my 30 plus years of flying experience ever see someone slamming the compartments the way Alan did. It was Scary and seemed he had a terrible temperament issue.
Scenario 2 :-
I observed that I few passengers who knew each other had exchanged their seats to sit with their friends and loved ones. While I agree it is wrong to do the same. But it was amusing and strange that Alan threatened by announcing that those who will change their seat will not get their correct meal. The tone and way he said it definetly was not how people talk in the hospitality industry. There was no request tone in his voice but one which was threatening and rude.
Scenario 3 :-
Post landing at Hong Kong one lady sitting few seats ahead of me wanted to visit the washroom. However the plane was still in motion and the seat belt sign was still on. This lady I think got up from her seat to which Alan shouted at the top of his voice screaming her to sit down. All of the fellow passengers got startled and shocked. I personally felt that the way Alan shouted was as if he was about to hijack the plane.
Scenario 4 :-
Observed all other Crew members thanking the passengers when they were about to exit the plane. Particularly remember crew member Mr. Troy who was smiling and saying bye to all. However Alan did not greet anyone and went and stood behind of the aircraft with no interactions or smilies with the passengers.
Pls Note :- I was travelling solo and had no interactions with Alan during the flight hence this review is not about taking any revenge, venting out my frustration or something like that.
The above scenarios are just my observations which I have shared with the Cathay Pacific senior management team so that they can take a note of and correct the same.
