Very poor service food was awful very bland
Given a complimentary drink in a paper cup
For the price we paid $5000 each not worth the money. There are much better airlines
However the only good thing was the staff very nice.
Seriously....I'm a One World Emerald so travel a lot and have always viewed Cathay as the top carrier in the One World system. I guess Beijing has gotten sufficient control of what used to be an amazing carrier - raining in HKG on my layover, my checked bag showed up in Shanghai so soaked that the white shirts had water stains. Had to spend a couple hours drying out clothes and cleaning shirts for next day's meetings. Unfortunate - this was my go to carrier and it appears they're lost - they had to have left my bag sitting on the ramp in pouring rain for all 4 hours of layover to soak it that bad. Tried to put in a customer service issue with no point other than to tell them to address their baggage handling - customer service blew me off as well. This is not the Cathay of 3 years ago - they were amazing and unfortunately, they aren't anymore.
Travelled CX 710 on a fairly full load A350-900.
Last travelled CX in 2015.
Plane was new, USB port in my seat could not be used to charge phone throughout the flight.
Luckily no one was sitting beside me and I could use the USB port to charge my phone in the seat beside me.
Food was average. Icecream was not available due to AM flight.
Crew presence was not existent. Only 1 drink service was done with meal service.
Premeal service (with nuts) was not done anymore.
PTV had good selection of 🎬.
Toilet was dirty, sink was chocked. Informed crew and did minimal cleaning.
I booked CP specifically because they are part of the OneWorld Alliance with American Airlines. After the flight, when my miles didn't post, I was informed it was the wrong fare code. Turns out CP has 21 fare codes, and eight are not eligible for frequent flyer miles. I have flown millions of miles, mostly on American over the past 30 years, and have never known what the fare code even was. I felt duped. Economy seats way too small anyway. I won't be flying with them in the future if at all possible.
