“Great service & food”
Review of British Airways

Reviewed 4 weeks ago via mobile

Flew on the A380 - upstairs where the seats are in a 2-3-2 formation (slightly worse than other airlines). However, service was excellent and the food very well presented. Fully flat bed.

A long 14 hour flight home is never going to be a wonderful experience but it doesn't have to be like this.

First the positives
On time departure & early arrival.
Some of the staff are really concerned about the decline in service.

Now the negatives
At Changi the security search is done at the gate so when the crew turn up they push in at the front of the queue. I agree that they should do this and they reminded the passengers that "we cant leave without them". But it could be done better.
1. Crew get to the gate earlier?
2. The crew could spread themselves equally amongst all the xray's and disrupt all the lanes equally. But it seems they like chatting together comparing their purchases.
3. Perhaps they need to be less arrogant and think "we (the crew) wouldn't be here without the passengers"

The flight departs at 2315 local time in Singapore and you know that they will serve the meal as quickly as possible and that's fine. The meal is beef which is ok , it is supposed to be a club world meal but I wouldn't have been impressed if I had been sitting in club.
So after a couple of hours the service is finished and the crew advise that snacks & drinks will be available at the back of the plane,
The next 10 hours there is nothing, if you were fortunate to be on an isle seat then perhaps you could venture to the back otherwise with all the seats reclined you can not get out and you are marooned. All the IFE then fails and the crew are only able to reboot the system an hour from London.
So 10 hours to relax in a Premium Economy seat, how pleasant not.
1. Seat very hard and is really not comfortable.
2. Bottom of seat tends to collapse/drop (no im not fat)
3. Recline is sudden which can result in catastrophe for those enjoining food & drink behind. Difficult to pull the seat back up.
4. Side bins can be difficult to open, had to use a plastic card to trip the faulty catch (no im not a burglar).

So after a 10 hour wait which would be 11.00am Singapore time we are served a lovely (not) English breakfast which is swimming in water/fat. Is this the best of British? To cap it off you are allowed one small cup of stewed tea. Why don't they serve the breakfast a bit earlier and allow time for another cup of tea or coffee. Also let passengers decide the strength of the tea by giving them the teabag and only serve the hot water, Its not rocket science.

If BA want to compete with the far east & middle east carriers then they have got a long way to go. If they want to bring their short haul cost cutting regime to long haul they are on a slippery slope to oblivion. They have a brand worth keeping, don't destroy it.
Am looking to my next booked flights with Qantas & KLM

The First Class product on British airways is consistently the best in the business because of the outstanding service and the understated luxury throughout the experience. My flight began with a cabana in the concorde room this is the best lounge in the world for any airline full stop. Stunning views of the runways and excellent relaxation areas. I had a massage before boarding.
The flight was pure bliss. Great meal choices on demand and a very comfortable bed with a large sleeper suite. Its open concept but I actually like the setup as its not clausterphobic. The wine selection was impressive and the crew were happy for my to try a wine tasting. BA has a great awards plan as well.

I bought a ticket from mexico to Venice with this airline but it turns out that in spite of selling it as mexico-venice you have to change airport to london, it means to take out all your luggage and at your expense to go all london to the airport of Gatwich. To do all this you have 3 hours of time.
All this is not minimally specified in the purchase of the ticket that undoubtedly would NOT have purchased.
In the case of a disabled person, for example, they will be left to their own devices at the arrival airport Heatrow, as they explained to me by telephone.
The Serrano does not want to take responsibility for the lack of information and frauds that cause travelers especially those who do not speak English and will be stranded in Heatrow or lose their luggage.

After 11 hours of flight imagine having this tray flung in front of you by some cabin crew girl who couldn't care less with this disgusting pig swill served to you and no extras - this is an airline that has zero respect for its economy passengers and this photo proves the point - how on earth could a ticket that cost £1000 return deserve this service and this level of cuisine on an International flight? It beggars belief and they get away with it because they think that 'British' airways is always going to sell - not for much longer with this level of service and standard of 'food'
