“Some problems, but overall adequate”
Review of Air Tahiti Nui

Reviewed 5 weeks ago

Check-in and boarding were a bit slow, but adequate. After boarding, the flight was delayed - we were inside the unbearably hot airplane with A/C turned off for two hours due to "technical issues". To my understanding delays can be a common occurrence with this airline. I requested vegetarian meals, which were better than average plane food (but I also can't say it was good). Seats and cabin were a bit cramped as expected in economy class. Screen and entertainment were okay. A nice touch was that even in coach, every passenger got a small amenity bag (containing earplugs, eye masks, wipes, earbuds, and socks). Considering the price paid, it was a pretty okay experience.

flight attendants & cleanliness of plane were very good. Video on setbacks great. Food served was much better than average in flight. They do not participate in TSA precheck, so even if you have it you go through extra security headache. Communication at gate minimal, even if the flight is over an hour late. Gate area for this airline at LAX is pre historic & ridiculously crowded & hectic.. Boarding was more like a free for all than anything organized on a flight that was late

The flight was delayed because of the pouring rain. It is unexpected for the airport facilities not to have cover to the airport from the plane and back. The huge panels that people had to go and walk through to get wet feet to the ankles. This is already after one hour delay in flight because of a off-loading the plane. After I demanded to place a bridge over the battles the only started your hustle and put a bridge on. The airport has only one small coffee shop that carries nothing other than a few items such as coffee chips and one type of sandwiches. You want to be prepared for that and bring some food to the airport.

Ok flight. Upgraded to 'premium economy' for 600.00 us. That was great, slept about 7 hours was feeling pretty great hitting Moana.

Return flight was ok,not great. Couldn't upgrade to any class so limited leg room. In spite of that still managed 7 hours of sleep. Arrived LAX refreshed and worked most of the day.

Very spacious, however with other airlines upgrading their fleet Air Tahiti Nui has me wondering when’s their turn. I can’t give them 5 stars due to an issue with my seat not reclining unless I got up to push it first. I love the option of a direct flight from LAX. First time flying with them but not the last.
