Car rental

We are staying at the resort from February 20-28, and already arranged for transportation to and from the airport. Your website states that car rental is available onsite. Is that through the hotel or a car rental agency (i.e. Budget, Avis). Is that something I should be reserving now?

As you appear to be someone who has never been to Jamaica, renting a car in Jamaica cannot be recommended. For a few of the many reasons not to rent a car see the following

The Grand Palladium can arrange for a qualified Jamaican driver with a car to take you anywhere on the island you may wish to go. Sit back, relax, and allow a Jamaican to show you the country.

Figuring out how to drive on the left side of the road is the least of the problems.

Jamaican road road rules/protocols are not contained in any manual. It is self taught and many Jamaican drivers do not have a license nor insurance. Two lane roads become 3 or 4 lines without regard to hill tops and blind corners. Then there is dogging the unfettered cattle and goats along the side of the roads (and sometimes NOT along the sides). Few street signs and few directional signs.

Jamaican drivers use three car controls: first is the accelerator closely followed by the horn (maybe the order is reversed) and way down the list of controls (below the headlight switch in importance) is the brake. Turn signals are "rusted" so they do not work.

Use a driver or the resort recommended tour companies for traveling around.

The Palladium is about 45 minutes west of MoBay and about 45 minutes from Negril. The nearest town is Lucea, the parish capital, but has no real tourist infrastructure.
