public bus from Kabale to Fort Portal

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any public bus from Kabale to Fort Portal.

If yes how many per day, or even better what time, and how long is the trip.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks a lot

Dreida

I have just asked the question and got the reply "they should be there." [Kabale is a bus hub]. Which doesn't help a great deal.

You could try www.theeye.co.ug as the bus companies are all listed, but better still pose your question on the

mzungus in Uganda Facebook page/group (there are 2) and you will probably find some pearls of wisdom coming from there.

A word of caution if I may.

Check your spelling. Kabale is many miles/hours from Fort Portal,

Kibale is around 50km max. which is it?

Yes, I need info regarding Kabale (close to Rwanda border) to Fort Portal in order to get to Kibale NP.

I know those names are so close to each other, and on top of that I will go from Kigali in Rwanda:-)

From Kigali to Kabale to Fort Portal to Kibale NP.

Hopefully I will get there!:-)

Thanks for clearing that up.

I don't think there is a direct service from Kabale to Fort Portal but you can get as far north as Kasese.

It may be better to take a Kabale-Kampala bound bus as far as Mbarara and then change to a Fort Portal bus there.

Travel time wise is should be doable in a day but despite quite good frequency it may need a stop in Kasese or Mbarara because of the connection.

Once in Kasese it may 'pay' you to get a private hire direct across country to Kanyanchu (if chimp tracking) rather than press on 75km to Fort Portal only to have to double back to Kanyanchu anyway from there.

Good luck. Google Bradt guides as they have updates on line or www.traveluganda.co.ug

Thanks a lot.

That is what i keep hearing and reading to stop over in Mbarara.

Do you know maybe how I get in touch with UWA to make reservation for CHEX.

Their don't pick up their phones, and email doesn't work ieither.

Do you know maybe if I can arrange CHEX in Kibale NP?

Thanks for your help
