Trip to Turtle beach and Turtle Sanctuary

Hi,

We will be at the Hilton Sarigerme in July and are wondering if a trip to turtle beach and the turtle sanctuary is possible under our own steam rather than an organised trip (we don't really fancy the mudbaths!). Is it far by dolmus or taxi? Is the sanctuary open to visitors all day? Are there sunbeds at the beach for hire? Does it get very busy?

This is our first time to this area of Turkey so all advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Nicy.

hi.

its only about 30 minute drive in a taxi through some lovely areas. make sure you book the taxi back as i dont remember seeing a taxi rank there.

there are lots of sunbeds and sunshades for hire and a decent cafe.

the turtle hospital is near the cafe-about 10 minutes walk.

You can also take a dolmus from Sarigerme to Ortaca and get a dolmus to Dalyan from there, they run about every 15 minutes to the centre of Dalyan. You then have the option of taking the beach dolmus or getting a river boat down to the opposite end of the beach and walking the whole length of the sandy beach to the Turtle Hospital (it's about 2 miles) and getting the dolmus back to the town, many people do this as it is very pleasant. As far as I am aware it is open all day. Both ends of the beach have a cafe, toilets, changing huts and sunbeds, I have never seen beach or hospital too busy.
