Taking money ATMs

Hi, the exchange rate is 1.14 at the moment in the Uk, how bad is it to change money up while over in Kefalonia? We are going to bring a fair amount of euros but just incase. Are the ATMs charge that high? Has anyone recently been that can tell me, thanks 😁

Hi, as you say take € in cash & a pre paid € cash card to withdraw from ATM's. It's always a better rate here than there.

Hi Victoria,

The bank ATMs do not charge if you play it right. When they ask how you want to be debited, you must "say" local currency (euros). That way you get the best exchange rate. Of course your bank might make a charge.

That said we also, as thisisthe1, take a preloaded debit card.

Hi Victoria, defiantly get one, you can load it when the rate is higher & take advantage when rate lower like now
