Skagefla hike in May

Hi,

we are (2 adult + 2 kids each 15 year and 10 years), planning to do Skagefla hike on May 16

We are arriving Geiranger on 15th Evening. Plan to do Skagefla hike on 16th morning

and on same day we are driving in Car from Geiranger to Hallesylt by last ferry (17.00 ) to reach Olden be evening.

1) is there any short Boat service available to drop and pick us at Skagefla starting point ( we are thinking that anyway we would take ferry in evening, so we can avoid taking that for morning hike to skagefla)

2) how much overall time it requires to cover complete hike both ways ?

3) Is Mid of May good time to do this hike ?

4) Any other hike we can do if Skagefla is not possible ?, what are other recommendations ?

5) Do we need to book evening ferry (last ferry at 17.00) in advance for May 16, so we can directly pay on ferry itself

How long it takes depends on your fitness level - it is steep and graded as demanding. Estimated to 4-6 hours on a guided tour https://www.geirangerfjord.no/skagefla-2 starts in June, so maybe too early for the boat service in mid May, contact the tourist office for more info.

No boatservice, you can hike from Geiranger via Homlong - minumum 4 hours net hiking for a fit male.

Thanks a lot klimaflyktning for your help, very helpfull. i could see that there is Boat service avaialble with drop and pick up Skaegfla., since we don't have enough time to hike via Homlong, we would prefer to avail the Boat service.

BTW, is May mid (next week) good time to visit this place, or i should look for alternative hike.

For my last further journey, i need to leave via Hallesylt by last ferry (17.00 ) to reach Olden be evening.

Do i need to book above ferry in advance ?

Or is the road from Geiranger to olden Oppstryn (avoding Hallesyld ferry) is already open ?

For the moment I believe the hiking conditions are ok - for next week you really need to check the forecast at www.yr.no - every day is different. I do not know about the ferry, only the company will have insight into the booking situation.

@ Sachin v- I'd love to hear what you ended up doing and what was open. We will be there the last week of May and was hoping to do the water taxi out then hike, and I wondered about the roads and skywalk also.

The road from Geiranger to Langvatn opened on May 9th. Could be closed on short notice if the weather gets bad. You can drive to Olden via Rv15 if the road to Langvatn is open. It's a 1 h 40 m drive.

The road to Dalsnibba is still closed, but estimated to open soon. Check their website/Facebook page to get updates.
