There is a place in Panjim near the bus station and Jet Airways office but I have lost the details, think the cost was about £500 each but why buy hearing aids when you can get very good digital hearing aids for free on the NHS also come with free batteries for life, just ask your doctor to make an you an appointment for a hearing test, takes a couple of weeks to come through and is normally a department in your local hospital, you then go back about a month later for fitting and setting up. Excellent service

Well here is a subject I know lots about as I wear a hearing aid in each ear, and have done for years. As wellout of it says there is a place in Panjim, I have seen it advertised in the little advertiseing booklet you can get in lots of the hotels.

My hearing aids cost just over £3,000 per ear and are worth every penny to me.There is NO WAY that the aids you can get on the NHS are of the standard mine are.I have tried them on several occasions,to try and avoid the cost of going for private ones.

Also the NHS is going to ration Hearing aids to one per person, ( so I read in the papers)not a lot of good if you need to wear two like me , a lot of people need to wear two to get the balance right. They might be OK if you only have a small hearing loss, but otherwise, NO.

As for buying them in India, I would not ,I have looked into it , but it could leave you without a back up sevice if things go wrong., and how good is the testing equipment there, and the person useing it.

IMO it is not a risk worth takeing.

I agree with you Bazz , we are easy meat in Goa. Y es the tiny in your ear aids are only any good if you have a small hearing loss.No good if you are really deaf.

Any one who wears aids should use the box to take out the humidity from the aids , we should all use them in the UK to be honest, but really important in Goa.I have read of several people who's aids stoped working because of the humidity, they did not even seem to have the info on the boxes, they and the pads to go in them only cost a couple of quid.

So anyone who uses a hearing aid , get a box to take out the humidity before you travel to Goa.

Hiya, My husband broke his remote controller when we were in Goa last year, Our Thomas cook rep tried to find a place to have it repaired but the only place in Panjim did nt have the new modern aids.My hubby paid £2500 in UK 4 years ago but we insured them on our house and travel insurance poliicy, You definatly need a box for them.

I know of an extremely good ENT doctor / surgeon in Goa. I spent thousands of pounds in Harley Street among all the "experts" in London - they did nothing for me. I was lucky enough to be introduced to this guy, and he solved all my problems in 1 visit! He also specialises in hearing aids.

If you would like his details, PM me.
