see about flying into oakland or sfo airport will be cheapest option. if you want closer fresno airport . then its a matter of renting a car to drive there. if you just want to look at waterfalls then probably two days if you want to hike add more days

Open the full TripAdvisor website, not the app. Look at the Top Questions on the right. Most of the topics are relevant to your planning. Read about airports. Read summer Trip Reports. Definitely read about lodging as this is very late to begin planning. Hopefully you can find availability in or near Yosemite Valley, even if you need to move lodgings. Yosemite will be very very busy around the 4th of July holiday.

There is not a 'correct' number of days to visit. Stay long enough to complete your list of activities. Many folks find that 3 full days is good. Some stay a week. Some just take a quick peek at one or two highlights and drive away.

We are first timers too and have three nights booked in Lower Pines early September, and are concerned we won't have enough time to do it justice, but it is what it is and getting a tent site was quite difficult. In the Valley, hoping to do the mist trail to Vernal falls, Bridalveil falls, either deal with the crowd at Tunnel View or hike up to Artist point (and Visitor Center). Glacier point and the Sentinel dome/taft point loop with stop at Washburn Point. Tioga road and Tuolumne Meadows, and maybe Lembert dome hike. After night three hit Mariposa Grove going south on the way out of the park. Have read a couple of books and a lot of prior questions/answers, plus read all of the NPS web site. Hope that helps with a small frame of reference.
