Half Dome and more, hiking trip reports

I want to thank you for assisting me to complete a successful hiking trip, esp. Happyfeet, PNWfamily, JR, and Aussiegirl.

I stayed at Oakhurst, Half Dome village - both cabin and heated tent, El Mono Motel in Lee Vining, and Yosemite Bug Hostel, ate at Half Dome's cafeteria and Lee Vining's Epic Cafe, and stuck in traffic a couple times, but all in all I have no complaints or set back the whole trip.

As a well traveled hiker, Yosemite truly possess some of the most beautiful sights in the world, albeit many of its trails are very demanding in both elevation gain and distance. I am still tired from this worthwhile trip. Hope you enjoy the photos and narrative below:

It is wonderful that you posted your experience for all to share! Thank you! Very nice pictures! The top of Half Dome is surprisingly flat and big, unlike many who would think it must be pointy at the top. The top of El Capitan is also huge and flat. You can play a football game up there (if you can find enough players to hike up there with you, that is...). Clouds Rest is the pointy one. And Mount Hoffmann. Maybe for your future trips. :)

Great pics! I've hiked both HD & CR too, days apart! The cables always seem super steep standing on the saddle looking up! And rightly so but they're awesome! Great capture with the deer, I've done HD twice now & only ever seen a skunk on the trail that was in the dark going up to Nevada Fall!

FYI, the bit that sticks out on the top of HD that is the obligatory picture is the Visor! The diving board is the opposite side & a different hike altogether!

RE: "I consulted my guide book one more time, and reassured that nobody has died on the cable yet."

Well that guide book may not have been updated. Maybe nobody has died from tangled by the cable. I believe a couple (IIRC more than 1) fell to their death slipping down because they chose to walk outside of the steel wires.
