Road trip from Yosemite to Vancouver BC

We are planning on returning from Yosemite with a few overnights along the way to Vancouver BC where we live. We do not need to see anything from Seattle north as this is all familiar territory to us. We are planning on staying overnight in Lake Tahoe, then overnight in Klamath Falls then Portland and driving home after that. Are we choosing the best route for viewing nature? We already drove down the coast from Vancouver to SFO so no need to go back to the coast.

Any suggestions for hotels, restaurants and nature spots would be appreciated.

I recommend that you post on the multi state Road Trips forum. (This forum is just about Yosemite.) Then ask on the city forums after you've set your itinerary

Remember when asking for trip advice, include the time of the year you are planning to do this trip. Suggestions for summer time are very different from the suggestions for winter time. I want to suggest Lassen or Crater Lake but those options are out if travel in the winter.

From Yosemite, you can drive to Lake Tahoe.

From Lake Tahoe, if the roads in Mt. Lassen are open you can drive from Lake Tahoe to Truckee to Lake Almanor Area

Drive through Mt. Lassen National Park to Subway Caves.

If interested in Subway Caves bring a flashlight. You can self explore.

From Subway Cave drive to Burney State Park

From Burney State Park we like to then drive to Mt. Shasta. We usually stay at the Best Western which has an onsite restaurant and bar areas, including indoor swimming pool. There is a small movie theater a 3 minute walk away.

From there continue to Klamath Falls and then I like Bend (Lavalands, Deschutes Brewery, Old Mill District, High Desert Museum and also a side trip 14 miles west to the cute community of Sisters).

Then on to Porland and back to Vancouver BC.
