Accomodation - Rocky Mountains NP then onto Yellowstone NP

Hi. My husband and I are doing a drive from Denver Airport to Rocky Mountains National Park then from there we are driving to Yellowstone National Park.

I’m looking for some advice on nice towns to stop off at for the night mid way between both Parks as we aren’t planning on doing the 9 hour drive in one day.

Recommendations for accommodation at or near both Parks would also be appreciated.

thank you

When is your trip? What are your interests? What requirements for lodging? Are you including the Tetons?

Next September. We interested in sight seeing and basic hikes.

My query was based on Accomodation locations only for two Adults. Just basic room, prefer modern with views, nothing less than 3 Star. I love little American towns. Not going to GT but Might if not too far out of way.

Thanks

Understanding what you want for your trip helps us give advice. How long do you have? Grand Tetons is directly adjacent to the south of Yellowstone. It is generally recommended to do RMNP at the end of the trip instead of the start to allow for acclimation before hiking at the higher altitude.

Asking for a modern 3 start lodging with a view in a little Wyoming town really isn't going to happen. Look at Lander, WY to break up the drive, but I have no personal knowledge of the newer hotels.

What do you have for accommodations in YNP?

If this is a lloop trip look at going to Yellowstone first then Teton then end in RM NP because of high altitude

day 1 to Denver

day 2 to Lander

day 3 to Cody

day 4-8 Yellowstone

day 9-10 grand Teton

day 11 to steamboat springs

day 12 to Estes Park through grand Lake

day 13-14 RM NP

day 15 an RM NP, PM return to Denver

day 16 fly home

for hotels whats your budget?

in places like Estes Park --weekends are busy and many hotels have 2-3 day minimum stays on weekends.

Stay in Yellowstone and book only thru Xanterra. A lot of affordable cabins with baths. Split lodging between OF and Canyon areas.

In Tetons we like Signal Mt lodge and Colter Bay is good also. In Jackson near Tetons check Kudar Motel and Ranch inn.

For Estes Park we like Quality inn. The same folks have owned the lodging for 40 years.
