Yellowstone Itinerary

I am fine-tuning our trip and would appreciate any advice and critiquing. 2018

We are flying into Bozeman on July 15 for 3 nights (Wondering if we should change to 2 nights?)

July 18 and 19 Jackson staying at Colter Bay.

July 20 and 21 staying at Lake.

July 22 we are going to Cody for the night. Want to see Rodeo, museum and need suggestions for anything else.

July 23 and 24 Canyon for 2 nights.

July 25 flying home from. Bozeman ( I think it is 2 1/2 hours)

I have everything booked except room in Cody and Rodeo.

I don’t have flights booked yet either, but plan on doing that today.

Thanks for any help!

You don't need 3 nights in Bozeman. Bozeman is tiny. What do you plan to do there for 3 nights?

I would add time in the Tetons!

Lake and Canyon are close. I know you are booked, but I would look at OF for your last nights. Even just the last one would help. If not, maybe the last night in West Yellowstone, depending on flight time.

Agree with others.

One night is plenty for Bozeman.

Also try and get a night or two at Old Faithful or West Yellowstone.

There is major road construction in the park this year between Mammoth and Madison Junction (NW section of park) and near the east entrance to the park which you will use to get to Cody.

Remember travel times in the park are super slow. Here is a map-

I’m sorry, the 3 nights in Bozeman was supposed to be Old Faithful. My bad.

Well, that works, as long as you can get to OF before dark on the first day. You could look for Roosevelt or Mammoth instead of Canyon for time on the north end.

Are you saying that because it’s closer to airport?

What time is flight into Bozeman?

You do not want to drive in that part of the country or in Yellowstone after dark. It is very dangerous.

That is why we are asking.

Thank you, I will see if I can change the last night.

We are booked for a Roosevelt Cookout on the last night. Will your suggestions for a change in location still work for that?

Also, do you have suggestions for lodging in Cody?

Yes, Roosevelt or Mammoth work for the last night after the cookout, as long as your flight out is late enough the following day.

Look at Cowboy Village or many like the historic Irma in Cody.
