Private Guide

We are traveling to Yellowstone in late June early July and I am looking for recommendations for a private guide focusing on wildlife for my family of 4. I would like to do this at the beginning of our 10 day trip. I have read that many people really enjoyed a day with a guide and it set their trip off well. We are staying at Cotler Bay in GTNP and Canyon Lodge in YNP with a couple days in Jackson and Cody. Any rec’s would be appreciated!

Private guides are very expensive. We enjoyed a small group tour with Brushbuck, but they do offer private tours too. Trips begin at Jackson. The 4 hour morning and afternoon tour is very good. Their 2 day tour into Yellowstone, staying overnight in Cooke City is very good too.

Someone last year posted about a private wildlife tour out of Gardiner. They really enjoyed it.

Will see if I can find trip report and name of company/tour guide.

I've heard great things about MacNeil Lyons. He runs Yellowstone Insight out of Gardiner. His full day tour rate for 3-5 people is $650 which is actually pretty reasonable.

Another private tour company based out of Gardiner that I've heard good things about is Emill McCain. It looks like his rates are $595 per person with $25 additional per person after that so for a family of 4 it would cost $670.

Our Nature Guiding Services is the one someone reviewed in their trip report last year.

Yellowstone Forever is the official non profit of Yellowstone so the money you spend goes back to the park. They do private day tours from the hotels in the park and have amazing reviews. I have been researching and am considering doing a tour with them- they look great.
