Is Virginia City worth a side trip?

We will be heading to Glacier from Yellowstone. Is VA City worth a visit with a 12 year old girl? She loves the Hallmark series, "When Calls the Heart" that takes place around 1900 in a mining/lumber mill town. But we are also spending a night in Cody. We are from VA so other than California, this is her first time out west. Anyway, the two options are to leave from Roosevelt Lodge, stop in VA City and spend the night in Helena or drive the 8 hours straight from Roosevelt straight to East Glacier??? As of now we have 5 nights to spend in Glacier so that would add a six night (and about a 1/2 day worth of quality time) to Glacier.

The visit would give your daughter a chance to learn more about Montana mining at that time in history. She might also want to read a little about the Bozeman and Bridger Trails through Wyoming, which were used to bring supplies and workers to the mines in Montana. So worth the visit imo.
