Beachfront Dining with Kids in Waikiki?

Looking for recommendations for casual beachfront dining in Waikiki. We had looked at Dukes because of the location, but wondering if there is something even more basic and affordable along the beach but still with a nice beachfront atmosphere. We don't need steak or lobster, but something with a few basic options for the kids and burgers, sandwiches, fish options for the adults. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Go back and look at Duke's again. There are two places to eat: the restaurant and the outside beachfront area called the Barefoot Bar (although the Bar is inside the reataurant!). The outdoors menu has burgers, some killer fries. And some fish items ... and pretty diverse and very well-rounded menu, including Hula Pie for dessert. Amazing for photo ops.

Check out Lu Lu's as well............it's not beach front, but directly across the street with from what I've been told........great ocean/beach views and open air dining area. I made a reservation for "close to the rail" to ensure a nice view.

The menu for the Barefoot Bar at Duke's is probably more of what we are looking for. Is the atmosphere there nice for a family with kids? Are there ocean view table at the Barefoot Bar? I'm guessing that it's more first come first serve with no reservations for Barefoot Bar. We'd probably look at at getting there for an early dinner.

Hau Tree Lanai at Kaimana Beach. They have a great brunch menu which is not bad and it's right on the beach. Very casual. You can have some brunch and then go for a swim right there. Near the aquarium and zoo.

The Hale Koa Hotel, in the middle of Ft DeRussy has a beachfront grill that is open to civilians and offers burgers, salads, and a few entree-type dishes. On the ground level so while the beachfront view is nice, the panoramas are not as spectacular as elsewhere. Relatively inexpensive with cheap adult libations.

Tiki's at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel. Like Lulu's it is across Kalakaua Ave from the beach, but with excellent views. Nice atmosphere, live music, you can sit in the sun if you want. Great place for a sunset.

I haven't eaten there in awhile, and it was always good. But it has been savaged by a few forum posters of late, although there are many still highly supportive.

Alternative path. Go to Teddy's Bigger Burgers in the Waikiki Grand Hotel, just up Kapahulu Ave from the beach. Get your food to go and take your sacks down to the beach for the best view and best ambience going.

Great burgers and good fun. Cheap and easy.

When we were at Dukes this past winter it was quite entertaining (very provocative dancing). As far as "family atmosphere" definitely not that night. I would go there on nights when there is no entertainment (band).
