Luray caverns

Will be visiting Luray in July. I have Rheumatoid arthritis and was wondering if I could handle the cavern tour. I'm pretty good with just walking but steps are hard on my joints.

Stella,

Link below FAQ Luray Caverns...I have highlighted the section for accessibility.

http://luraycaverns.com/FAQ

>>> Is Luray Caverns wheelchair accessible?

Luray Caverns is not listed as handicapped accessible. There are three sections of steps, totaling about 70 steps, to go down into and out of Luray Caverns. The paved walkways on the tour are 1.25 miles in length with some areas having moderate grades that may be difficult for visitors with disabilities. <<<

I hope this info helps.

For what it's worth, Shenandoah Caverns, which is about 30 minutes from Luray, has an elevator (it advertises itself as the only caverns in Virginia with an elevator). The steps in Luray are relatively steep, compared to the stairs in your house, for example.
