This will be our first trip to SAT. We will be there April 13-18 staying at the Hyatt Regency. I usually like to do the hop on hop off tours in a new city to get a feel and history of the area and also transportation to other areas. Read some bad reviews about the bus being late all the time and not worth the money. What are your thoughts?

Also there is a half day missions tour, any input on that? We will not have a car so any info on tours or areas that we should uber to please add. We like to try to see and do a lot since we will probably never come back.

Other than the Alamo and the missions what are your favorite MUST SEE AND DO items?

Thanks for any suggestions!!

My husband and I are also big history fans. If you could rent a car and make at least a day trip to Fredericksburg, I think you'd really enjoy the Museum of the Pacific War and LBJ Ranch National Park.

Better yet, stay in Fredericksburg for a couple of nights!

The Missions are very easy to do on your own if you have transportation. Start at San Jose since it has the Visitor center. Our favorite is actually Espada since it is the simplest one.

If you like art and history, The Saga is really cool to see and makes a nice nighttime activity. If you enjoy natural beauty, we loved the Japanese Tea Gardens - more about the architecture and water features than the garden itself. We also went to the San Antonio Botanical Gardens - I imagine they might be looking a little rough after the hard freeze though. We did a Segway tour that was a lot of fun.
