Many are trying to finalize travel plans. Please answer us. Are there any fires blocking entry to Crescent City? Are there any fires close to Crescent City?
As of now, no. It's quite rare to have forest fires right at the coast, since the summer weather is much cooler (and more moist) than inland.
You do know the Japanese tried to start wild fires on our west coast, but made the mistake of dropping the fire starters on the redwood forest near Crescent City. Thirty minutes inland can be very dry and there are sometimes fires in those mountains, but the wind blows off the ocean and keeps everything clear. The cleanest air in the nation is in Trinidad.Edited: 27 July 2017, 12:35
We were just there last week and there were no fires ....weather was 60 to 65 degrees and it was beautiful!

Yes, Trinidad's air is certainly clean. So is the air along the Oregon and Washington coasts . . . and *many* other places throughout the USA. The American Lung Association has online lists of the "cleanest" air in America even though they don't mention Trinidad :-)
Glad you had great weather, Collesce B!
