Where to stay near I20 & I80 ?

Hi folks,

I need your advice. I'm driving from Chicago, IL to Rapid City, SD in mid-August. I'm passing thru Omaha on the way there and on the way back. I'm coming in on I80 and then catching I29 north. I'm looking for a decent hotel/motel around the $100 range that is in a decent area near restaurants and gas station along that route.

Any recommendation would be much appreciated!

The first area that pops into my head is Omaha/**LaVista Exit #442. There are several brand new hotels, Cabelas, a couple restaurants, and gas stations.

We stayed at Embassy Suites which was very nice. Since then I believe the Hampton Suites is finished. Both of those have breakfast included. If not a Summer Kitchen just opened a few blocks away. I have enjoyed the food at another location.

Cabela's is a sporting goods store, worldwide headquarters in Sidney Nebr. Lots of animals of the stuffed variety for decoration!

I-80 (From the West)

Traveling east on I-80 take Exit #442, Giles-Harrison.

From off-ramp, turn right onto Giles Rd.

Go approximately 1/4 mile to Southport Pkwy and turn right.

**LaVista is surrounded by Omaha.

Thank you very much! I ended up getting a room at the Springhill Inn near 80 and 29. The reviews for that hotel are pretty positive.

There are a lot of newer hotel / motels near the i80 / i29 interchange - near the casinos, bass pro shops and the Mid America center..As well as the Ameristar and Harrah's where you can stay at the casino property.

Before you get to the I-29 and 80 intersection, there are lots of restaurants on the south side of I-80. Most of them are chains, but a large variety. Brass Pro has a restaruant, but the last time we ate there(May '09) we said never again. It used to have good food.

Mitchell or Chamberlain would be a good place to stop for lunch the next day.
