One Night Hotel Stay Before Cruise

We will be going on a cruise in September and arriving one day early. We are looking for a reasonably priced hotel. We are currently planning on parking at the cruise terminal as it looks like the hotel park & cruise packages are limited. We would like to visit the French Quarters area. Don't mind using the trolley to get there. Any suggestions?

Here is a listing of hotel cruise "packages":

Since your time is short, you might want to stay in or VERY close to the French Quarter.

I'd check out the Wyndham New Orleans French Quarter, formerly Holiday Inn French Quarter; it's listed in the link above. Not particularly "NewOrleanish", but it's well located, typically reasonably priced, and relatively clean and well maintained. They have an enclosed and covered on-premises "self-park" garage. You would need to pay a $14 (for two persons) plus tip cab fare both to and from the cruise terminal.

What cruise line are you sailing?

We are sailing in January with NCL they offer 2 great hotels right in or a couple blocks from the French Quater, that after comparing prices the package is excellent. Includes transportation and luggage handleing which is a big plus!

If you are not sailing with NCL check to see if whoever you are cruising with offers something similar.

I know Princess does as well.

Also if your flight is not already booked..consider booking at least one extra day. This will be our first trip to NOLA and we are taking 5 days.

The longest we have taken in a port city but there is so MUCH to see and do..not just drinking and eating lol :-)

Have fun on your cruise!

..we are doing western Carribean Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatan and Belize. January 19th a long ways a way but NCL had some great perks and we wanted an Aft balcony which sell out pretty quick.

You may also want to check out Trip Advisor's sister site Cruise Critic if you are not a member there...it is dedicated to everything cruising, and will have lots of info both for your cruise and specific ship as well as the port, including where to stay and what you need to know as a cruiser for getting to port easily etc.
