How are you planning to travel? The train stops in Poughkeepsie. You can get a cab there.Edited: 17 July 2015, 23:01
Metro North (commuter rail) from Grand Central schedules here: …mta.info/mnr/…schedules.htm (See the Hudson Line schedules, cost and train times vary)
Amtrak also follows that route, but can be more expensive and has fewer trains. http://www.amtrak.com/northeast-train-routes Amtrak departs from Penn Station.
But the train does not stop at Hyde Park.
I assumed the OP knows that as they specifically asked about travel times to Poughkeepsie and then the availability of taxis.
Not sure why the second link in my previous post isn't working properly. Click on Poughkeepsie on this map http://web.mta.info/mnr/html/mnrmap.htm for local taxi info.Edited: 18 July 2015, 01:52
If you're going to one of the Roosevelt / Vanderbilt sites there is a (seasonal) shuttle bus from the train station: nps.gov/hofr/planyourvisit/experience-the-ro…
