Winter (February) vacation in Hudson River Valley

We are thinking about a 3 or 4 day vacation in February when college aged son has school vacation (unfortunately, it is the same mid-February week that all other schools are out). We have identified a few attractions such as FDR museum and home site, Vanderbilt Mansion, West Point. But, basically, looking for "indoor" ideas since there may be a lot of snow, and it could be freezing outdoors. Son likes museums and things of a historical nature.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'm not sure the sights you are talking about are open all through the winter. They may be open only certain days, or limited hours or not at all (I know some in the lower Hudson Valley close for the winter). So do check all of the details before deciding on this.

The NYS Museum (Albany) is open year old and is worth considering.

If you go to Albany be sure to visit The Albany Institute of History and Art as well as scheduling a tour of the state capital just down the street.
